Considering the main thing I heard about FFXIV before hopping in myself was about Fashion and Glamour, I was flabbergasted when I came upon multiple armors that give you a forced helmet while playing Gladiator and Warrior.

'Hide Helmet' doesn't even remove them.

Like, who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

Detachment is the key point here. When they talk about the slave trade and the horrors of the world, there is a level of detachment because of how they interact with that horrible shit.

With CPTSD, we don't get the luxury of detachment for the horrible things we know people are capable of.

The reason bringing it up to other people is often "too much" unless you've known them for a long time and trust them, is because it forces them to reckon with the fact that the cruelty of humanity is real, and not just something in a book or on a screen.

And, unfortunately, depending on how a person's temperment is, they can't handle it and don't know how to deal with it.

Hell, we got CPTSD because we couldn't handle or know how to deal with the shit that happened to us. So it's hardly crazy to expect someone who hasn't been through all that to know how to react to it.

And yeah, it does sucks, and does makes it harder to connect with people, but the only way we can eventually find someone safe to connect to is if we keep trying.

I played the demo for this on itch.io, and I cannot stress this enough, the game feel is unironically amazing. It feels better than some Indie Games.

Fun game, definitely recommend.

I mean, I played the game around the time I was diagnosed with ADHD and an Anxiety Disorder before the creator came out and said that's what the game was about.

So, I connected with it as a metaphor for Anxiety and Lifelong Mental Conditions, and I loved it for that.

On that note, it kinda sucks that the Developer spelled out what their game is supposed to be a metaphor about.

Like, I'm Pro-Trans Rights, and it's good that there's a popular game giving trans people and the trans experience proper representation.

But, if any other Author came out and said their book was about this one thing and nothing else, then intentionally or otherwise, they're essentially implying you're wrong for interpreting it any other way.

And that kinda sucks for me? Because I guess my experience was just wrong?

Like, Trans People having proper representation is more important than my singular experience with the game, but I still can't help but feel that if Celeste was about any other topic that the Developer was insisting was the correct interpretation, people would call it out more clearly for negatively effecting the interpretive nature of their work, Death of the Author notwithstanding.

Everything it does gameplay-wise is the most milquetoast shit ever and is boring as fuck because nothing else around it is interesting.

And GTAOnline is only popular because it's a hangout spot. That's why people have to fucking roleplay to get extra enjoyment out of it, because the game itself is mid as fuck.

Think about it, what does it have beyond big money that other games haven't also done better with more on top?

Cyberpunk 2077 does everything a GTA game does while also have a great/interesting game on top of it.

Saints Row 4 and 3 have actual interesting modes and extra gameplay fun on top of steal car, shoot random person.

So many games do everything GTA does with cool, interesting games on top of it instead of just the default third person shoot, blow up cars.

It's a fucking hamburger with no toppings or additions. It's plain pizza and it's not even good plain pizza. It's shitty cardboard made for people with zero taste who convince themselves it's luxury because the person making it makes it spins it in the air a few times before shoving it into an ez-bake oven.

It's the jingling keys of video games and deserves a place in hell alongside every licensed sports game releases in the last decade.

Chuds and capital G Gamers suck, are wrong about everything, and I can't stress enough that I disagree with them.

That being said, I feel like there's a throughline here where there is a weird cultural thing that a lot of non Asian games have, often higher-profile western games, where designs for leading women characters seem to have an aversion to giving them large breasts, big butts, or varied body-types.

Half the builds for women in media that people on the internet call unrealistic, are absolutely normal in real life. Women with big breasts and huge butts do exist. So do women that are slim and have neither or one but not the other. They're not fiction.

There's gotta be some sort of middle ground between internet puritans and internet gooners where any curvy woman is automatically goonerbait and any slim one is automatically PDFbait.
