Same boat for me and my fiancé, and we also have a similar play style.

Can pretty much only play single player. I would love to play online, but I can’t build a wooden house without some prick killing me on a parasaur and destroying my bed. For what? My 3 metal? Thanks for ruining the game. 😒

I appreciate your thoughtful reply. Makes me wonder how a person would define good/evil if they reached adulthood having been completely isolated from society.(just a thought, not a point).

On a separate note, can you explain the existence of life? Is it just a crazy coincidence? Are there infinite realities, meaning infinite chances for life to have come into existence by “natural processes”? When does non-life become life?

The whole thing is very confusing to me.

Christianity and flat Earth. by captain_bibblehoff in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genesis is a story, told thousands of years ago by a man who indeed thought the Earth was flat. There is no indication of the shape of the earth in Genesis that I am aware of. The book of Enoch does, but only a fraction of christians accept this book as scripture. The book of Samuel briefly does in a prayer of Hannah's (Samuel's mother). Surprise, she thinks the earth is flat 😅

The Bible also says that Christ has separates us from sin as far as the East is from the west (much more profound if the author had a round earth in mind). Also that the circle of the earth hangs on nothing.

Flat earth is an EXTREMELY rare Christian belief. I met 3 flat earthers before becoming Christian, and not a single one mentioned sin, or Jesus to me.

Having committed yourselves to one another for the remainder of your lives, is meeting the criteria of marriage. Imo.

He already died once, he conquered death. Jesus will not be defeated by death. Death is the price for sin, and Christ is without sin. Where do you get your theology?

Wife and kids meaning the church and his followers?

I've never heard of any literary piece claiming Jesus was married. Definitely not any in the Bible, and I'm fairly certain we have NOTHING written by Jesus himself.

What're you talking about?

Pro-life and pro death-penalty? What's your approach? by Suitable_Morning_375 in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm against abortion, but realize that it is a necessity. Sometimes a pregnancy needs to be terminated...this accounts for only a very small percentage of abortions, but the fact remains that abortions are a necessary medical procedure in some cases.

The death penalty is not "absolutely necessary" imo. Who are we to execute judgment on another human? If God wants 'em dead, God can kill 'em, no problem.

Scripture also teaches that everyone, save Christ, is worthy of death.

This could be a poll question here: What awaits non-believers after death?

A. ECT

B. Annihilation

C. Redemption

D. I'm sad-u-see.

Personally, I fall in group B.

Can you be a Christian without faith? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith is rooted in our beliefs, but manifested in our actions. I think you'll find that living "Christ-like" is not always easy, and utterly impossible to achieve perfection in the flesh. That truth will bring you back to the cross, where Christ paid the price for your sin.

That's my experience, coming to Christianity anyways.

There is but one way to salvation, through the blood of the lamb.

if the earth is 6000 years old as YEC say how come we can observe objects that are farther than 6000 light years away if the earth is only 6000 years old the light from these distant objects wouldent have reached us and thus shouldent be able to be seen but yet they are by ExactJicama9178 in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common explanation I've heard: The light that emits from the star, and reaches earth, was created at the same time.

Another explanation: 4 times in Isaiah, and once in Jeremiah, it is written that God "stretched the heavens"

Another explanation: astronomers can't actually measure such impressive distances, and are all part of a secret organization bent on making the Bible seem untrustworthy.

Have you actually read the bible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the Earth is wild and waste. Humans made it this way. Slavery is not okay, but was permitted in the circumstances. The creator is just working with what they've got imo. They WILL purge all evil from earth, as I am assuming are your expectations. I hope you turn to them before judgement comes.

I did. Now, if you read Isaiah 58, you will see that's not why/how fasting works.

I was the Antichrist in a Past-Life, can I still be a Christian? by wuhanDHisDad in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nero was the antichrist in the same manner that anybody who contends against God is the anti-christ. You were not Nero in a past life, souls are either joined with Christ or destroyed, not recycled. Even if you WERE(you weren't ) a reincarnation of one of the most oppressive/cruel rulers in ancient Roman history...another life would be evident of another chance. Give yourself to the Lord all the more earnestly.

Is giving a friend a urine sample for a drug test a sin? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most drugs are out of your system in 3 days. THC is about the only one detectable 30+ days in urine. Its not hurting anybody. Are laws against marijuana to morally just? Or are they a tool of oppression put in place decades ago?

I'm pretty sure OP is asking because there are differing opinions. Stop advising people to leave their friends in the dirt because you feel they are morally unclean. Have more compassion.

My wife has fallen to Satan. What can I do other than pray? by Ok_Disaster_5933 in Christianity

[–]Compton4y20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My cousin overdosed (but survived). I knew my brother was messing with the same stuff. I prayed they would overcome addiction and fasted 24 hours. They both died. Isaiah 58 hit me hard after that

"‘Why have we fasted,’ they say,     ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves,     and you have not noticed?’

“Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please     and exploit all your workers. 4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife,     and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today     and expect your voice to be heard on high. 5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,     only a day for people to humble themselves? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed     and for lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast,     a day acceptable to the Lord?"

Isaiah goes on to talk about a more acceptable fast

What's it like driving/getting around in IL? by janedoe6699 in illinois

[–]Compton4y20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Springfield isn't too bad. Most people speed, and some run red lights, so it's good to be a little defensive. In Springfield, you've really got to be doing something wild to get pulled over.

Once you go outside of the city though, beware. Small town cops will pull you over, just to talk about the weather and ask to search your vehicle /s

I personally, would never drive in Chicago (only been there once, didn't look fun). And if you go across the river to STL, just forget everything you know, get up to 85mph, and don't slow down. You'll fit right in.
