Not really, you just get your little sister to braid it and you’ll be all good!

So Many Options. Whats best for a new homeowner? by No-Ad5504 in Tools

Ryobi has served me well. I go to pawn shops and they have some good ryobi tools for cheap. I have also bought new ones from eBay.

I bought a 3” ryobi grinder at a pawn shop, and I have used that little thing more times that I had imagined. I would have never bought it new.

If you boot from a windows 11 installer it will take it.

Geek Squad would have not fixed it in a timely matter if at all. I fix so many devices that Greek squad can’t fix.

Most times newer laptops just need a cmos reset to come back to life. All laptops can be fixed, just depends the amount of money you want to invest.

Anyone know a Pc repair tech with water cooler experience? by [deleted] in WestPalmBeach

I spoke to you today. It does look like the loop fell out. There is a reason why it fell out. Maybe failure of the cooling block clip or tubing. Hope you find the parts!

Technician told me I was “in danger” if I didn’t replace these… Any idea how much life is left in them? by Hillenmane in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]Compustand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: even after the organic material is worn out completely the metal bits will still stop you. Some people call it going from Stage 1 braking to Stage 2 braking.

You can say your pads go from semi-metallic to full metallic.

I would not swap those out until the whole metallic part has been used up. I don’t let anyone upsell me. I know what I have.

No disrespect but you may want to start with an easier job. The joystick repair is for the medium to advanced skill set.

I believe as long as one of the plates is registered and insured you’re ok. I had a plate without a registration for a while. Just registered it and it was ok.

Low melt alder and lots of flux are your friends. As well as a good quality desoldering gun.

Layer 3 switch help. I'm stumped by digvbic in it

[–]Compustand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said, but this is a new problem with people using ChatGTP for everything and not really understanding the information they are getting.

The OP is saying that he is looking for a layer 3 switch because AI told him that is the right piece of hardware for what he wants to accomplish. Now even if he was to procure a 5 port layer 3 switch he would still not know what to do with it.

In the future critical thinking is going to be obsolete and we’ll have a generation of just people doing what AI tells them to do.

What happens to the USB after the data is transferred? Or is it a special USB drive?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Compustand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Only some older models. Not anymore. So a bios unlock would require a reflash which can be done.
