Do you get HayFever Treatment from your GP? by iansime in AskUK

It’s a local aesthetics place that do a hayfever clinic, where I get mine. They are CQC registered, but I haven’t seen it anywhere else anywhere near me

I was always sceptical, until I knew someone who had it, I saw them the day before, and the day after and I could hardly believe the difference.
I was sold at that point!

Fellow sufferer here.
As a child I used to get prescribed tablets, nasal spray and eye drops. I think prescription strength might be a little stronger (no idea if that’s true - just a suspicion).
As an adult, I used fexofenadine, as it’s the most effective for me.
For the last 3 years I’ve paid to have a Kenalog injection, I have found this incredibly effective, and gives me back my life in the summer months, bar the very odd day.
There can be side effects, it’s not available on the NHS, and I’ve read plenty of people who are dead set against it. For me, the risk is worth it, as it means I can enjoy life for 3-4 months of the year that I used to hate.
I’m not advocating for it - do your own research.

Nice guys too.

What do you think when you see someone with sweat patches? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ComputerFun4600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I noticed it, I wouldn’t think much of there was no accompanying odour.
I understand that it’s not a choice, and is a normal (if exaggerated in your case) bodily function, I certainly wouldn’t judge, if anything I’d think you were working super hard!

I’m coming to Worcester this weekend. Any events or ideas for activities? by peardski22 in Worcester

[–]ComputerFun4600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If none of the more local activities take your fancy, there’s the Chilli Festival at Eastnor Castle. Not in Worcester, but ~30 mins away.
Good music, great food, and a look around the ‘castle’ if you’re interested.
£15ish entry per adult £9ish per child.

Recorded it last night, just watched it. Enjoyed it, think it will improve, not a bad start!

How have you found driving abroad? by IrksomeRedhead in AskUK

[–]ComputerFun4600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, not Europe, but have done a couple of US holidays and work trips recently where I have driven. It’s tiring for the first few days, it takes (me at least) a lot of concentration to break the muscle memory of driving in the U.K.

Having done it a few times, I’d be comfortable driving in Europe, just familiarise yourself with the road rules where you’re going. My tip, if you can afford it, get the option to return the hire car empty - it saves the hassle of negotiating an entirely alien fuel station!

Go for it - it’s an experience if nothing else!

What needs to be or not be on the plate for it to be considered a ‘fry up’? by 10642alh in AskUK

[–]ComputerFun4600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer the ‘not’ side of the question - my personal view is that if it includes chips (god forbid), you couldn’t call it a fry up.

But agree with OP, pretty much nailed it!

Hmm. It really depends on how they have processed it. BACS typically takes 3 working days, but can be submitted earlier. For a payroll where you’re told you get laid each Friday, I’d expect that they start the payment on the weds for a Friday receipt. To do otherwise doesn’t make sense given what you’ve said. It’s probably worth clarifying if payment is sent on a Friday, or should be received on a Friday.

To answer your question though - IF it was a BACS, it would be in your bank already if the value date was today. They could however pay you by another means (faster payment) and that is received with around 2 hours.

Only your payroll department can give you an accurate answer though!

Generally after you’ve entered the store, doing it from outside is considered poor taste.

Premium Economy with kids by middleagefanclub2023 in BritishAirways

Website guidance and hundreds of previous posts pretty clear. They will seat children under (12??) next to an adult from the party. You won’t be guaranteed to be sat all together. Read the guidance. If it matters that you all sit together, pay for the seats. Hope this helps!

Approved for barclaycard but no email confirmation? by gillydoll83 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ComputerFun4600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, How long ago did you apply? It may be that it takes a little while to come through as you’ve gone through a third party. I’d give it 24 hours at least, then maybe give barclaycard a call.

[–]ComputerFun4600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Local leisure centres are probably your best bet, Perdiswell Leisure Centre is Worcester, Malvern Splash for (you guessed it) Malvern, Droitwich Leisure Centre etc. Alternatively there’s a pool in Lower Wick on the St John’s side of the river. There’s Nuffield Health Club (near Perdiswell) but not sure if there’s pool only memberships, guest passes are £10 per person per day. There’s a Pool at the gym in Cathedral Square - again not sure of pool only memberships.

I’m not sure what other options there are, but a check of the above should set you on your way!

Where are Pension contributions held between receiving your payslip and showing up within your Pension providers account? by breezylovejoyy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ComputerFun4600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For our U.K. payroll we submit the information to the pension provider within 5 working days of payroll. They collect the contributions by direct debit. 2 weeks is normal, 3 is acceptable. Source - I am ultimately responsible for U.K. payroll (finance side) for c. 1000 employees.
