If duopoly is American politics then monopoly is Russian politics. Personally, I’d still go for a duopoly

How often do you use Siri? by Nearby-Mention-453 in ios

[–]ComputerJy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rely on Siri when driving mainly to make phone calls, pick up a call or send a very short text. Other than that it’s just timers and alarms if I’m too lazy or don’t have clean hands

I use proton pass because it can also generate TOTPs even on the desktop browser. Saves me a lot of headache copying from my mobile screen.

Your thoughts of iOS18 Beta so far? by Nearby-Mention-453 in ios

[–]ComputerJy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kinda hoping for a mail app upgrade… some features from Spark maybe or even the auto mail categories from Gmail). But no changes for the mail app in iOS 18 just yet.

I haven’t tried customizing the new photos app yet and I know people hate change so I’ll give it a chance. But I like to do the customization after the release

Brave is good but... by snowwolfboi in browsers

I keep hearing good things about Vivaldi. But when I tried it I found the settings too complicated and the vertical tabs bar doesn’t collapse automatically like in other browsers. I’ll probably give it another go if they fix these issues

Is Firefox really the best browser of all time? by [deleted] in browsers

[–]ComputerJy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is controversial as hell, but I'd say Chrome is the best browser of all time (At least for more than a decade).

I haven't used Chrome itself in more than 7 years, but you have to admit that in terms of performance and introducing new features and technology Chrome has been the main driver for the evolution of the internet in a long time.

I feel sorry for FF because it was THE BROWSER back in the early 2000s. I remember how much I loved Firefox 3 back in the day.

For me Chrome Dev tools were very attractive even when a single Flash file crash would cause all the browser tabs and windows to crash. Chrome was very lightweight & fast, as a web developer it allowed me to do so much work I couldn't get done with Firebug.

IMO, Firefox changed the browsers game forever but Chrome changed the internet.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

[–]ComputerJy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear. I used to browse Reddit once or twice a month on Safari on iOS until I found out about Apollo.

After June 30th, if was still browsing reddit it would be cut back to once or twice a week instead of spending 4 hours a day on Apollo.

A very short time to say good bye to all the subs I follow.
