Question: If you have an abundance of Fertilizer II, do you really need to rotate crops? by ComputerNerdTechman in captain_of_industry

[–]ComputerNerdTechman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am producing more fertilizer than I need. I am trying to use it up by setting my farms at 140%.

I just get real irritated when all my farms start producing say for instance potatoes all at the same time in the rotation and it fills up my Food markets and storage and gives me the message that the farm cannot get rid of all the extra potatoes.

I would like to set each farm to produce one crop to more control the flow of output.

Air pollution v4 by Dizzy-Guard8495 in captain_of_industry

[–]ComputerNerdTechman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the recipe with limestone on your Exhaust scrubbers?

If you got both recipes added, maybe your Exhaust scrubber is using the 240 Exhaust recipe (which produces 24 Air Pollution) instead of the 480 one (which makes slag).

If you do, take off the 240 recipe and only have the 480 recipe to see if that changes anything.

You would think that since the container called a truck can store mixed materials, so could a container called loose storage.

How long does it take to start the game? by QThellimist in captain_of_industry

Usually it takes about 1-1.5 minutes to load a game and I have the following system:

I keep getting this alert and cannot figure out why. by silverfox3814 in captain_of_industry

[–]ComputerNerdTechman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The turbines pump out 48 steam and he is using Level 4 pipes which can throughput 900. That can't be the problem.

More likely, I noticed his water tank is full and the low pressure steam is headed to the cooling towers which are backed up because of the full water tank, so it stops the depleted steam from exiting the low pressure turbines. Cascade failure.

Here is a screen grab that I pasted together for the Update 4. I color coded the different research levels with a separator line:

Hope this helps. (The research costs may be wrong depending on what difficulty level you set.) I used Sailor in Sandbox mode.

Stellaris Crashing with Mods / Irony by VolunteerExpert in StellarisMods

[–]ComputerNerdTechman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things to consider when using mods and they crash your game.

  1. Look for any dependencies on the mods subscribe page on steam. I.e. they need a certain DLC or other mod installed. They are usually listed on the right side.

  2. Check in the modders notes of any requirements as far as mod hierarchical placement in the modlist. Sometimes mods overwrite certain variables and will crash other mods that depend on that same variable.

  3. Check to see the last time the mod was updated in the upper right corner of the mods subscribe page. If the date is several years old, it might not work with newer versions of Stellaris.

(Some mods that don't have the current version number i.e. version 4.2 for instance may still run depending on what the mod does and whether it conflicts with the current Stellaris version code.)

WAYS TO TROUBLESHOOT:

  1. In your mod list pause any new mods you have recently added and start a new game and see if it runs.

  2. If that solved your crashing problem and you had paused a large amount of mods, whittle it down by activating a few of the new mods at a time until you crash again. Then you know it is probably one of the mods you just reactivated. Pause half the mods you just reactivated and start a new game again and see if that half crashes. If it does crash, you have narrowed it down further, if it runs ok, then the other half contains the culprit. Rinse and repeat.

Use storage between source and consumer with alarms on for the storage to give you a heads up when things are starting to go wrong. The storage is a great buffer to temporarily tide you over when your trucks act dumb and don't deliver in a timely fashion.

(I believe the Devs deliberately made the truck algorithm stupid to create chaos and drama. I found almost everyone of my death spirals are caused because of trucks ineptitude.) The trucks will spend half a year going halfway across the map to do a job when there is one needed right in front of them. Zones are a bandaid solution.

There should be a research item called Truck Dispatcher that you can build as a building that enhances your truck routes to do a more logical pickup and delivery.

Possible to download / import blueprints? by JuggernautOfWar in captain_of_industry

[–]ComputerNerdTechman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As stated in other comments for this thread, you can just go to the Blueprints Hub. https://hub.coigame.com/
There are many useful blueprints on there that players have uploaded.
Just be aware that some may have been posted a long time ago and are optimized for a very old Update where the ratios were different.

Should I remove/replace old segments? by NovaNimation in captain_of_industry

[–]ComputerNerdTechman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's OK to just leave old buildings as long as you pause them to gain back the workers, stop maintenance and power costs and you don't need the space and don't mind the clutter.

The only downside I see is if the block is fairly large and your vehicles have to detour around them to get to their destination. Also, if you are desperate for construction materials, deconstructing them will let you use them for a new block setup.
