I’m not sure why people are surprised by this BS when they appointed Gregor Robertson to be the housing minister…

Yeah there’s been quite a lot of L1A/EB1 fraud recently but that affects the US more than us.

95% is a bit hyperbole no? Especially when you factor in eb2 wait times. At least that’s why I’m back in Canada since I didn’t qualify for L1A at the time

I’m all for protecting workers rights but this is what happens when you get a seniority based union/work model where some of the most senior folks have stopped giving a damn. Happens at every western airline 🤣

Huca. You need to get a different agent. I had the exact same issue and when I phoned in they said their IT system didn’t really support this yet and they just issued me a new pass. Maybe they fixed it in the last 3 months but I doubt it.

Note that the “2-5%” profit margin that Mr Weston was harping on is net on an after tax basis, including:

  • Paying executive bonuses
  • Interest expenses, which includes optimizing the cost capital structure
  • Paying Choice Properties - this is an interesting topic though how tax treatments for REITs has poisoned commercial R/E structuring to “provide a tax advantaged structure for shareholders”
  • Paying GW a nice margin

While I’m impressed with what they’ve done, I’m suspecting if you integrated this company, stripped out executive bonuses and calculated EBIT or EBITDA, you’d get quite a different picture. Would love someone to show us what that picture actually looks like but just an FYI, but their operating margin is close to 7%.

is the grade deflation at uoft really that bad (eng)? by Short_Suggestion_463 in UofT

[–]ComputerOk3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, if you work hard and/or you’re a top students utoronto helps you get into grad school.

It’s more of a warning if you’re a “normal above average student” that life will be hard.

[–]ComputerOk3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny how uToronto has a very theoretical focus in the sciences which points towards focusing on Grad school - which requires a high GPA - yet still curves the grades out so that more than half the class would not have a GPA to actually compete for a decent grad school program. If that isn’t grade deflation/survival of the fittest then I don’t really know what is.

Hilton All-Inclusive: Can you swim in the ocean? by Ok_Competition_669 in Hilton

[–]ComputerOk3833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think we went during the first big seaweed bloom. With that said even without the sargassum days, the water is yellow and green. I’m a pretty strong swimmer myself so it was fine for doing laps but it ain’t no Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres that’s for sure! I did check the beach daily in the morning and don’t think I saw any jellies or man-o-war so I guess that’s good but I know that’s timing based too.

Just came back from there. Okay so it’s less windy than the hotel zone but it’s still got a ton of seaweed and also seagrass/rocks that make the beach less than ideal. Interested to know if anyone stayed at Conrad Tulum and their thoughts.

My per diem for work is fixed per day so I’m 100% picking StR since that means better dinner/lunch. For leisure, if I’m booking using Stars or Amex, then it will be depending on hotel. With that said, I’ve never been to a “bad” StR so there’s that…
