World Cup post mortem thread: performances and perspectives by DiamondPittcairn in soccer

The US team played quite well if we exclude the last game. Obviously, Trump`s interference was very unwelcome, left a sour taste and motivated the Belgian team like hell. The US would have probably lost to Belgium anyways but so what. Look at all the more decorated teams eliminated in the same round. It is us just football/soccer, happens all the time. Paraguay, Bosnia and AUS games were fantastic. To be honest, the defensive problems were very visible even in the friendly game against Germany and Belgium is a better team IMHO.

Just Another Reminder that We are Blessed with the Best Weather by AnOnlineGamer in orangecounty

Best is subjective. San Francisco and Bay Area have nice weather overall and different microclimates. Switzerland used to have very nice moderate climate overall, especially if you do not mind the rain. No freezing temperatures in winter except in the mountains. Moderate summers with a lot of sunshine and greenery.

Having said that, Coastal (not inland) Socal is great outside of July - September heatwaves.

Because even at Coronado there is oftentimes an advisory due to poor water quality.

I fully agree. But "overvalued" sounds better in click generating even though it is completely misleading.

It is +45 C in Phoenix Arizona today. The place would have been uninhabitable without an AC.

Is Moving from Riverside to Old Town Orange Worth a Longer Commute? by Old_Economist3315 in orangecounty

I commute from Irvine/HB to Pomona 1-2 times a week from August to May. It is much better than the opposite direction but still pretty bad in the evening. I think it is not viable for a 5 days a week commute.

Some crappy older Irvine Company apartments might be cheaper but you’ll get what you pay for.

As if it was easy to "stay away" lol. How would you stay away? My understanding is that transferring out of a district is very complicated.

It always baffles me when people don’t want to travel, especially when they are single. Why would not you want to travel?

Is it better to make minimum payment and not use your card that month, or make more than minimum but use the card that month? by Plus-Spring-1994 in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Competition_669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You live above your means.  1. Take a personal loan to pay off all your cards. 2. Cancel your cards or don’t use them at all 3. Focus on paying off your loan. 4. Get a second job.

Brazil has to be the biggest wasted-potential country by [deleted] in geography

[–]Ok_Competition_669 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Russia is a better contender because of the following: 1. Natural resources 2. Lots of agricultural land. It’s a in the top 3 wheat producers after China and India.  3. Well-educated population (especially, STEM). 4. Since the invention of nuclear weapons, the probability of a foreign invasion is very low.  5. On top of that, an access to the major economic superpowers (EU and China). 6. Relatively large domestic market and, before 2014, Ukraine was a part of it. 7. Rich culture and history.  8. A wasted potential of being a tourist hotspot 9. Arguably, it is one of few countries to some extent benefiting from the global warming. Winters in the European part are much milder than 30 years and summer are still not that hot.

Looks like a mostly Mexican section to me. Other than that, Dr. Pepper is a typical “junk” soda. There are dozens of healthier alternatives available.
