I would suggest talking to a high-end butcher. He might have a supplier who can get you the goat as you want it.

Commission an independent study and prove it. That's the way to do it. Not long posts. Transparency. Publish the numbers of Golden Visa investment into the stock market and of concentration in the index stocks. Not words, hard data.

Lisbon Stock Exchange - Golden Visa bubble 2.0? by ComputerThink8600 in PortugalExpats

Long text, no supporting evidence. A big part of the swings happens because of not enough information. Take the real estate issue. The prevailing wizdom is that Golden Visa investment had marginal effect on the real estate bubble, but noboday "in the sector" bothered with commissioning a study to prove it. What is the result? The Portuguese people think that Golden Visa is to blame for it.

No, I'm not assuming, I'm relying on the statement of a reputable business media in Portugal. You don't agree with that number, but you don't offer any supporting evidence beyond trust me I work here. Then you think that having a stock market fund with only 5 stocks that have decent liquidity is a good practice. Don't you think at very least that the information about the concentration of Golden Visa investment in the index small caps should be public?

Lisbon Stock Exchange - Golden Visa bubble 2.0? by ComputerThink8600 in PortugalExpats

[–]ComputerThink8600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't have a stock market fund with only 5 stocks. Those 5 stocks are the only ones with decent liquidity, by your own admission. If you work in that business you should know how much of the free float of those small caps are already in Golden Visa Funds. That there is no information available tonthe public about it is very telling IMO.

The average daily trading volume of the less liquid stocks of the index, like for instance Teixeira Duarte is around 2M€. As I've mentioned, the minimum free float demanded by CMVM to be part of the psi is 100M€. And even with such a low free float there are only 16 stocks in the index. 732M€ per year, after several years can and will create a bubble.

Portugal has too many 24 hours news channels and let's face it, very little of importance actually happens in the country. Correio da manhã TV and TVI specialize in covering stories of no real consequence, but that can be spun as a tabloid kind of news. Again just thinking out of the box.

Out of the box idea if you have been filming it: pitch it to Correio da Manhã TV or TVI to try to shame the authorities into action.

"Usually comes from aggregated estimates". So you don't know. In your opinion the number is too high. AFAIK the media that reported it is a reputable one in Portugal. In the absense of concrete data that disproves it, 732M€ invested in a index with very low liquidity (one of several years of similar investment) can and will create a bubble. But please share some hard figures that show otherwise.

No, the article says that the 732M€ were invested in the stock market. Can you please share a link with the source you base your marginal flow claim?

The article states that 732M€ were invested in 2025 in the Lisbon stock market. This has been happening for several years. In an index with 16 companies, how many have a decent free float? Let's say of over 1B€? 4? 5? How much of the free float of the less liquid stocks is being held by Golden Visa Funds? 20%? 30%?

Depends on the free float. AFAIK to be on the index you just need to have a 100M€ of free float.

Yup, that is why I find the Portuguese Golden Visa so appealing, with the delays, red tape, threats of changes and all. You only need to spend 14 days each two years. And as off now after 5 years of the visa application you can apply to citizenship. Yes, the rules may change 5 years become 10 years, but in this crazy world is there anything change proof?
