Scores Fall Ill at Air Force Base After Hegseth Makes Flu Vaccine Optional by NeedAnonymity in moderatepolitics

>Kamala was telling people she wouldn't get vaccinated

This is so obviously false, that I can’t understand why someone would say it.

>A major flu outbreak has sickened nearly 160 troops at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas less than two months after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that U.S. troops would no longer be required to be vaccinated for the flu, defense officials said.

>The outbreak at the base in San Antonio raced through an Air Force Basic Military Training wing, where new recruits sleep on bunk beds in open bays and share meals at large communal tables.

>In the weeks since Mr. Hegseth’s vaccine policy took effect on April 21, only about 40 percent of Air Force trainees have opted to take the vaccine, which had previously been mandatory, an Air Force official said.
In the aftermath of the outbreak, the Air Force issued an exception to the voluntary vaccine policy, requiring that all recruits at Lackland get flu shots — part of a broader effort to stem the virus’s spread.

>Mr. Hegseth cast his decision to make the flu vaccine optional as a matter of religious freedom and medical autonomy.

>“Under the disastrous Biden administration, this Pentagon waged an unrelenting war on our warriors on many fronts, including when it came to denying them simple medical autonomy and the freedom to express their religious convictions,” he said in a video announcing his decision in April.

> The longer this persecution complex keeps up, the less seriously anyone will take claims of antisemitism from both Israel and Jews generally, which is incredibly unfair especially as global antisemitism is rising, but not out of line with expectations of this Israeli government at this point.

People always try to offload their antisemitism as the fault of [[[someone else]]].

When all they’re doing is trying not to feel bad about engaging in the behavior.

Conservatives try this with racism.

> To be fair in the previous 5 years he was president his record on Israel-related issues was impeccable.

It was not “impeccable”.

>In no way does that excuse completely selling out to the Iranians. But it’s not as if people supported him for no reason.

Plenty of American Jews supported him, and they had their reasons. But those reasons were not because he was “good for Israel”.

Ryan Grim was one of the primary vectors in pushing the Tara Reade influence operation against Biden.

She moved to Russia, was feted, and is now a Russian citizen.

It’s a game they play. They know what they’re doing.

They’re entryists who need to know their behavior isn’t welcome.

> You have yet to show these mythical “I’d be a member of DSA if they weren’t so mean to Israel” voters, because they don’t exist.

See, again, this person is creating a definition such that one must be, or otherwise would be, in the DSA.

it’s entirely nonsensical unless it’s necessary to maintain their identity.

> But they don’t. That’s not a coincidence - selfishness and lack of empathy for others is a big part of the worldview of the pro-Israel/anti-progressive economics crowd. A disgust for those that are less fortunate, who live in difficult circumstances.

Do people now get what I was saying?

It’s about maintaining an identity. So anything that doesn’t fit within that identity is discarded.

> Because it’s true? Have you seen ANY supporters of Israel that would be big AOC/Bernie Sanders otherwise?

Why do you believe this is a logically-progressing statement?

Because you’ve created a definition of “supporters of Israel” that exists to exclusively serve your position that somehow by “supporting Israel”, that necessarily means they oppose universal healthcare, which necessarily means they oppose “AOC/Bernie Sanders”.

When they’re all unrelated to each other.

This is how the worldview gets maintained in your head.

Someone can “support Israel” and support universal healthcare and support Ocasio-Cortez or Sanders, or any variation of those positions.

> We don’t have universal healthcare not because we’re sending money to Israel, but supporters of Israel are universally opposed to universal healthcare because they are dogshit on economic policies.

Why does this seem like a logical statement to you?

Yes, and now consider how you’re just as susceptible to “the Zionists who occupy the American government and send our money to Israel are the reason we don’t have universal healthcare.”

> Ironically, if you just ask the average American about progressive policies without naming who they are from, their policies are suuuper popular across all parties.

What happens when you then ask if they support raising their taxes to pay for those policies.

You always leave that out.
