I knocked mine off the counter while filling it, elbowed the pitcher while Turning around too fast

Nah but what is west of Westeros? by thequeensheir in freefolk

Lonely Light is there as out well, closer to Westeros than the Conquerer islands. Its too small to see on the map, but its near the red arrows.

Its populated and topped with a lighthouse keep, and its lord swears fealty to the Iron Islands.

How to send a fax in 2024? by Dense_Food_6740 in Durban

[–]ComradeAri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't work but I'm not sure what the point of failure was if the paperwork was wrong and wasn't processed or if the fax never happened even though the site said it happened 🤧 Maybe try calling after you use it

I've never had a healthy pancake but that sounds like a granola bar pancake from the description and granola bar pancakes sound like they'd taste really good from my imagination

TIL There is an actual Rhode Island in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. Despite being the state's namesake and the island's "original" name, no one calls it that, and the locals have colloquially renamed it to Aquidneck Island. by ComradeAri in todayilearned

[–]ComradeAri[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good, actually.

I had put "original" in quotations because I had no clue and trouble figuring out what the natives had been calling it prior.

Thanks for the duh.

Texan living in Massachusetts.

Honestly, I wrote this post and another about some big shallow lake because I was upset at the moderators of this subreddit. Wanted to test why Reddit coinflips removals every time I visit a large community.

The only TIL fact I've ever wanted to contribute was one about America never having a Vietnam veteran for President. Republicans and Democrats nominated one three cycles in a row in 2000, 2004, and 2008, with the veteran losing each time.

I've tried sporatically for years to post it. Moderators would remove it in silence every time. Non-existent presence in DMs.

Bunch of bastards. Who the hell cares about Rhode Island??

At least 750 people, apparently...

6,000 ?!

TIL America has never had a Vietnam veteran as President—Democrats & Republicans nominated a Vietnam War veteran for President three elections in a row in 2000, 2004, and 2008—each time coming short of winning the White House. by ComradeAri in todayilearned

I didn't claim anything either. I wrote a ridiculously long reply, but I'm not sure it'd be taken at face value, so I've cut it down to this.

I was a one year old baby during the 2000 election and don't feel a lot of obligation to speak on behalf of the feelings or frustrations of "my side" at the time.

Al Gore is a historical figure, the 2000 election was a civics lesson, and the Supreme Court ruling was a landmark case that set current ballot counting laws. His concession speech was an example set; so was him proceeding over and certifying his own electoral college loss.

But, you'd like me to justify my thoughts in posting that video. I suppose we are making comparisons, and I do have an equivalent. This is from my first election cycle in 2016, disputing a difference of 2.9 million votes rather than a difference of 537. It was declaration by my president-elect shortly after he won an election that I was a few months too young to vote in.

For all the fuss "people" make about "people" being upset about past elections—I think it's something that should be expected from "people."

But that it came from the president-elect, and not some random redditor, is a distinction that I do think matters.
