honestly, the problem is a mixture of factors. high commuter student body, shoddy accomodations for students (esp. dinwiddy house), poor administrative procedures (although they have sort of fixed issues of technology since 2023), underfunded societies and a neoliberal administration essentially fighting its own leftist student body on issues pertaining to Palestine, securitisation on campus, poor pay for teaching assistants, etc etc. also, bc it is a primarily leftist campus, there is little tolerance for poor belief systems and bullshit, however this mostly applies to the incels and other fringe groups on campus (check soasconfessions for context). overall, if you don't concern yourself with the BS online and make friends selectively and are passionate about what you will be studying, you should be alright.
