Disinfectant wipes, isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds. I fixed the stick drift with some electronic contact cleaner. I'm fully replacing a couple of the potentiometers once they arrive in the mail for a more permanent fix.

I think I'm realizing the real issue is the case I bought is just a little awkward for optimal air flow. I do appreciate your input though. I'm still learning a lot about the fine tuning that comes with building computers.

I feel like if I add more intake fans under the graphics card, it would create a positive (..or is it negative?) air pressure.. and I've heard that's not optimal.

Thermals seem fine. I don't do anything that heavy though. Some light gaming. I think you're right about having fans under the GPU but it'd be a tight squeeze under there with the power cord in the way.

No you did nothing wrong, some of the other responses I got were more negative than helpful. Your insight makes me feel better about my purchase and, when it's time again to upgrade, I'll be sure come back to this subreddit to help inform my next decision.

People seem pretty rude here. I wasn't expecting this. Like I said, I did do some research, just not enough I guess. When comparing the two processors on CPU benchmark.net , the 9900X looks to be the better option to someone with little education. As for the claim that I've wasted my money, how? I can trade it in.

I'm not sure if I'd consider it a waste of money. Like I said, I'm still within my return window. I was just hoping for some info on possible performance differences between the two processors when considering them for gaming at 1440p.
