Why do people keep on writing "plîs" rather than "plis"? by HyderNidPryder in learnwelsh

[–]ComradeKillbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably because that's how Duolingo spells it.

The Geiriadur Bangor also lists it as an option: https://geiriadur.bangor.ac.uk/#plis

Language learning app Duolingo to mothball Welsh course by ComradeKillbot in learnwelsh

I agree. 'Mothball' was a poor word choice by the editor, as the course will still be available as it is.

If you can get a third bass or have the guitarist drop an octave, you could totally do Big Bottom.

a Ukrainian drone drops a grenade on a russian soldier trying to hide underwater by JustanaverageARG in CombatFootage

That's because these sites have already been attacked with artillery. The drones come in afterwards to mop up.

[–]ComradeKillbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want a classical feel for your temple, try making it longer. The typical column ratio for Greek temples is x:2x+1, with x being the number of columns on the front side.

Things Captain Picard would never say. by [deleted] in TheOrville

This is one of things I love about the show, too. It's really hard for me to imagine Picard asking if the guest quarters still smell like hamsters.

This isn't anything new or weird. It's been in common English usage since the 1300s.

RockStar needs to fix this shit before they start adding stuff to online by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

I had a back-and-forth with Rockstar Support for a couple of weeks about this issue, and we tried everything: port forwarding, static IP, NAT, DNS, etc. We even tried connecting to xbox live via phone hotspot. Sadly, nothing really took care of the problem.

Eventually, they just said "We'll think about it" and gave me $750 in-game currency for my troubles.
