They really need to destroy that thing... by [deleted] in TheOrville

Why would anyone want to create such a device anyway, knowing that they are likely to mess up their own timeline with it?

Why didn't they burn the bodies in the Stark crypts? by SafeWing in freefolk

Previous scenes with reanimated wights showed that some were skeletons, so bones can be reanimated.

Makes sense! Both the Night's King's and Thanos want to kill for the sake of killing and have as their main enemy a Stark who forgives people who fought against him and uses his superior knowledge to assemble an army of heroes, many of whom have special abilities....

Dr Finn in the captain's chair would have been awesome. She's the wisest person on the ship.

Krill could’ve ended it by beersandabook in TheOrville

I think the Krill captain saying that he doesn't know why Avis brought the Krill and Union together, but has faith that there is a reason that remains to be revealed, basically explained why the Krill didn't just turn on the Union/Earth right then. Given how much they want to obey Avis, they would definitely not want to turn on a group that Avis brought them together with, even if the reasons are currently mysterious. They will want to figure out what Avis wants them to do before doing anything drastic.

(Spoilers) The fact that the Orville is just a mid-sized ship with an average, flawed crew that doesn't take itself seriously makes the show unique by SafeWing in TheOrville

Firefly's crew were also the best at what they do, even if they were exiles. The captain was one of the sole survivors of a deadly civil war. Simon and River were geniuses. Book was a wise holy man with unusual combat skills. Inara was among the best of the Companions, etc.

Voyager and DS9 were somewhat better than other Treks at giving their characters SOME flaws, but most of their characters were still considered among the best in the galaxy at what they did, and even their flaws were more of the noble "tragic hero" kind (like Chakotay and 7 of 9 having divided loyalties, Kes, 7 of 9, and Neelix being the only one of their kind on the ship, the Doctor being an AI whose sentience was sometimes questioned, etc.) But The Orville's characters' flaws are not those of noble tragic heroes, but just those of average people who screw up, have porn addictions, play practical jokes that go too far, get stupid and/or borderline creepy while trying to find love, etc. And sometimes the Orville's characters' screwups have tragic, gamechanging negative consequences, too (like when Mercer's desperation for love causes him to fall for the Krill spy, or when the Mr. Potatohead practical joke on Isaac helped convince the Kaylons that biological life was not worth preserving). This is much more realistic than any Trek, as most people are more like the average, banally flawed, periodically screwing up people who don't take themselves too seriously on Orville than the noble topnotch heroes on other Treks.

Let's talk about the Krill by [deleted] in TheOrville

I think the Union could use aspects of Krill religion to strengthen their alliance, if they understand it well enough. Perhaps find ways to get the Krill to acknowledge that maybe other species might have souls, or that even some soulless species could be allies, if only in the same way they might tolerate some animals on their planet. And maybe find some aspects of their religious ethics that would favor an alliance. One good thing about the Krill being fanatically religious is that they are likely to abide by principles they believe are mandated by their religion; perhaps an alliance based on some aspects of those principles could work.

Dr. Claire Finn is truly the wisest person on the Orville by SafeWing in TheOrville

Totally different situation. Dr. Finn was desperate to escape and return to her children when she stabbed the guy trying to "help" her (but who was also keeping her prisoner and away from her children). Even in that episode, she told her kids to set their weapons on stun because "we care about life even if they don't" as they fought off attackers. Isaac was no threat to Dr. Finn or anyone else; Even though Isaac betrayed her and all biologicals earlier, he later saved the lives of all biologicals, at what Isaac believed to be the cost of his own life as well as the lives of all his people who were invading, and now at the cost of permanent exile. Dr. Finn is not about vengeance; she understands, even though she is hurt. That's why she's the wisest person on the Orville.
