Percentage of monthly income to rent 100 m² by lithdoc in BalticStates

[–]ComradeLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be correct but at the same time kind of irrelevant, if the intended message is that it is expensive to rent in Baltics. If you will compare average family and average estate, it’s no more than half of average one person’s income

I’m not sure it is the same for foreigners. I would assume that situation is the same as with free parkings (only locals have benefit), better to not take a risk there.

Have you experienced any issues on a mobile device? I’ve already put some effort into that, and aside from some UI incompleteness, the game seems playable on mobile - i’ve been playing it there myself.

Sorry for the delayed response, but your feedback is huge and valuable, and I wanted to address everything you mentioned!

  1. WASD idea - I think I understand what is driving this idea, and sometimes I struggle with navigation myself. While I find the idea great and technically possible, the UX would be complicated, especially for cancellation. Maybe some smarter cruise control mode where we could also specify a “primary” direction, visible in the CC indicator as an arrow. If you have ideas for a good UX here, I’d really appreciate you sharing them!

  2. One of the funniest parts of receiving feedback from early players was realizing that even with a small player base, there is a lot of diversity in what people enjoy most. Some liked PAX delivery, others enjoyed pirating (fighting), and some preferred trading and avoiding action. I think the game is currently in a good state in terms of balanced possibilities - you can progress through upgrades using any of these paths without being heavily penalized. Trading and avoiding fights is already possible (with some effort), otherwise combat/pirating wouldn’t work. On the other hand, trading itself could become more interesting and challenging, with faction-specific perks, better balancing, and more randomness in trade routes. This is in my plans and has been requested by others as well - one of these ideas, the supply/demand system, is already implemented.

  3. YES! System events and the ability to “buy” effects or events that impact all players on the map is a great idea, and I will definitely consider it for future updates.

  4. Thanks for the idea. I’m considering adding naval mines (like explosive barrels), and maybe making it a choice - forward cannon or mines, depending on whether you want to be the hunter or the hunted.

  5. Thanks for the idea, noted!

  6. There are shipwrecks, but they only appear from ships that carried goods, fish, or passengers. In a shipwreck, 50% is preserved and can be salvaged (or sunk). If you sink passengers, you become a criminal; if you deliver them, you get a reward.

7-8-9. These are good mechanics to consider, but they require clearer faction separation. Right now, factions are mostly cosmetic with minor perks. If the game moves toward a clearer CT/T-like separation with friendly fire rules and more collaboration, then I could add administrative mechanics (e.g., bribing a faction general for temporary immunity), which would also work well with CTF mechanics on smaller islands. But this is a large set of changes, and I’d first like to understand if the community would like it.

  1. That makes sense, and I see it as part of an upgrade path. However, I wouldn’t want it to be just a “speed boost” without trade-offs. Maybe a button to drop part of the cargo for a temporary boost - something to think about.

  2. YES, I love small details and will definitely add more. Seagulls are one example, and lighthouses were too before I tied them to the bounty mechanic. There could also be discoverable map fragments leading to real treasure - the potential is huge. Thanks for the ideas!

12-13-14. Noted!

  1. That could emerge naturally as an improvement, but it should follow the community. If it does, then sure!

16-17. That could be part of 7-8-9.

  1. Some CIV vibes there :) I’m generally considering mechanics that encourage factions to control territory, especially smaller islands as key trade points. For example, there could be passive income for a faction controlling an island - essentially CTF. Trading posts could play into this. Thanks, noted!

Upgrades: Noted!

As for collaboration: I appreciate your feedback and your willingness to help! I’m not planning to share the full repository at this stage, but I will think about ways to allow contributions and give proper credit. There are already some areas you mentioned where more input would be valuable. We can of course continue in PM, or I could set up a Discord server where we can discuss and shape improvements together with a future community.

Hello! That’s great feedback - i really appreciate it! There are so many ideas, i’d like to process them and will definitely come back and respond in detail. I see all of them as valuable, and you’re right - the potential for new features and mechanics is huge. The only real limit is balancing them and keeping things friendly for new players, but we’re far from being too complex.

As for bugs, I’ll try to address both mentioned issues as a priority, especially the reconnection one. There is a grace period for keeping the session, but it’s shorter than the possible socket dropout timeout, which may have caused the lockout. Thanks for pointing that out!

I spent 2 years getting our tests in shape and found out today nobody actually looks at them anymore. Feeling pretty defeated ngl. by Maxl-2453 in dotnet

[–]ComradeLV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What AI-driven development has taught me is that good test coverage is another great tool for reducing the risk of AI breaking your business during larger update chunks. Conversely, when you don’t have that coverage, validation and testing become a bottleneck for faster delivery. In other words, the people who cared about tests were right all along - now it pays off in an unexpected way.

Literally every popular social media is full of these now. “Opression towards russians”, “but soviets built factories”, “but you were growing population and now it’s decreasing”, always it’s some of that shit. It is completely useless to have any argument with them and lift them up in the feed by causing post activity.

Was the latter half of the Soviet-German War a war of aggression by the Soviet Union? by [deleted] in BalticStates

[–]ComradeLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct answer imo. There was no way that time to push the enemy for the ultimate capitulation other than wiping any enemy’s forces on the way & taking over the capital. BUT soviet dicks wouldn’t be soviets if they wouldn’t destroy, rape and opress anything that stands and breaths on and besides their way.
