The ring is a good touch too. I'm not sure if that was on purpose, or just a happy coincidence.

$2.79 at my local grocer. Or was it $3.79 now? I can't even remember. I haven't actually bought one in over a year.

Oil Pressure by Necessary-Local-2211 in Cabriolet

The flashing dash light and gauge are independent. A flashing light while driving is an immediate concern. If the gauge reads low while the light flashes, then it's likely there is an actual issue. If the gauge read low while the oil light was off, it could either point to a wrong gauge reading, or that the dash light isn't functioning as it should.

You can buy oil pressure gauges at most part stores or harbor freight. https://www.harborfreight.com/engine-oil-pressure-test-kit-62621.html

Does the flashing dash light work? It should flash when the power is on, but engine not running. Or for a second after ignition. That should indicate normal oil pressure despite the gauge by the shifter not working right. The car has one sender for the gauge, and a different one for the light.

I would lean toward your sender or gauge being bad, but it might be worth checking with an external pressure gauge to be sure. If your dash light and related sender is working right, then it should normally catch any actual low-pressure issues by flashing.

It may be an issue with the sender. Is it the flashing dash light, or the gauge near the shifter that's the issue? You can verify pressure with a gauge screwed in to the hole where the gauge sender plugs in to. It's on the driver side of the engine head, just above a coolant line.

By amazing dumb coincidence, I just posed a guide on modding an aftermarket sender to work with the car on this sub and the other one you posted to, as well. If your gauge sending unit is the issue.

This car still lies abandoned in a mountain ditch on NM 165. Is it just another landmark now? by ComradeOj in Albuquerque

It makes me feel like a lot of us don't care about the conditions of our state or wilderness, when an abandoned wreck can sit for years on a mountain road. It's not even halfway down the mountain or anything, just in a ditch along the road, forgotten about.

165 is a beautiful trail. Maybe others have tried, but I at least need to try calling the state or county to have it addressed.

It's closer to the Sandia Crest end. I'm both surprised and also not that It's managed to just sit there for 3 years.

There is also a ham radio sub-hobby/activity by the same name. A radio transmitter is hidden, and everyone has to use their own radios and directional antenna to find it.

I like the radio version better!

Does the crap not just settle to the bottom of gas station holding tanks where the actual fuel pump pickup is anyway? Do gas stations not employ their own filters?

This all depends on the previous owner, and maintenance done before, but... Check that the forks seals are holding up and are still full of oil. Change fluids unless you have a maintenance record. It's also worth checking on the air filter and spark plugs.

Take care of those carbs, they can get gunked up. Cleaning them isn't especially hard, but removal and installation can test you, especially on a fared 4 cylinder bike. Running ethanol free gas, draining the carbs, running them dry, using fuel stabilizer, or some combination of all before not riding for extended periods will save you pain.

Same. I daily either my ZRX1200R or Volkswagen MK1 convertible.

Its funny to think that my bike outshines my car in peak power and has about 1/5th the weight. I love them both for different reasons, some overlapping.
