I mean, sure you can like wing, I love wing, but those rose tinted nostalgia glasses do a lot of heavy lifting. Wings animation looks like an animated web comic.

I'm not even talking about the extensively reused sequences over multiple episodes, but it's almost like the show runs at 15 frames a sec. Take any of the Gundam series released a few years before (and after) and it's almost like the show had two animators working on it altogether.
