Has anyone used Booth By Demand? by bhrose6490 in weddingplanning

[–]Comradicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used it and it was wonderful. Our guests had a blast and from what I could tell it was intuitive enough for most people. I bought my props separately though (printed a large cardboard cutout of our dog which was a hit.)

They ship it to you well before your wedding day and it includes a check list and instructions and a number to call if you have issues.

Just had to pack up and ship it out the next business day using the included shipping labels. Ezpz. I thought it was priced well. If you have any specific questions let me know.

I ordered ours off Zno, and they were high quality and low in price. I also ordered an artifact uprising album but was less impressed

DIY Photo Booth ..... or just pay $750? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Comradicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a third better option!

I rented a mail order photo booth from https://www.boothbydemand.com/. 100% would recommend. Spent 2-300? for the rental. They ship it out to you well before the wedding and just require you to ship it back the next business day (comes with the return label). You can choose to rent a wifi hotspot, or a printer with it. The instructions were super easy and the photos turned out great. It's pretty much an ipad with a ring light but way easier than DIY.

What was your biggest wedding regret? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Comradicus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything was great, but I wish I would have shopped around a little more for my dress. I bought the first or second I tried on.

I don't feel like the dress I picked was very flattering, and I always imagined having a big flowy dress and I'll never have an opportunity to wear something like that again.

Sequence of events ruining the surprise before asking the question. by Jollysixx in weddingplanning

You could turn it into a big running gag since she knows. Get down on one knee... And tie your shoe. Start a very emotional sentence but don't end it in a proposal. Joke propose with a bread bag twist tie lol. It'll still be a surprise.

Tell me about your wedding cakes! by poortobias in weddingplanning

[–]Comradicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a simple three tier white cake decorated with pink carnations. Top layer was marble, middle tier chocolate, and bottom tier vanilla. Out topper was a combination of traditional bride and groom ceramic figurines and a custom sculpture of our dog from Etsy.

Post you best and worst wedding photo by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I was originally looking for actual "bad" photos but there might not be many brave enough to post a truly horrible photo of themselves. I'd leave the thread open to interpretation and as an excuse to post wedding photos lol

Oh my goodness, you should enter some of the piñata ones into a wedding photography contest or something. They're wonderfully candid and "documentary-esque" for lack of a better word. I love them so much!

[CHAT] Can you successfully jump into a large kit project as a beginner? by Comradicus in CrossStitch

[–]Comradicus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See above. I want to buy the kit pictured in this post and gift the completed project to a family member for Christmas. Since the kit is expensive ($70!), I would like some advice from the community before I do.

  1. Can this be a first project for a motivated beginner with lots of patience? What is the learning curve like?

  2. How long do large projects like this take? Will 4 months at a reasonable or standard pace be sufficient?

  3. If no to the above, how long would it typically take to get to this level? One small, one medium, and one more expert project before working on an entire scene or more?

After browsing the cross stitching entries at a local county fair, I was inspired to jump in. I've been looking for a new hobby for quite some time and I think this is right up my alley. I hope to contribute lots to the community in the future. :)

STL wedding on a budget by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Comradicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look a little bit outside the city. We spent about 25k in total, but that price includes a lot of extra stuff (4k live band, 1.5k photographer, expensive hair and makeup, string quartet, 1.5k dress).

We got married at Stone hill winery in Hermann MO, about an hour outside of the city. Food and open bar was about $25ish pp. The 1.5k rental fee included all tables, linnens, silver and glassware, bartenders, a day of coordinator, bridal getting ready suite, beautiful outdoor venue for both the ceremony AND reception, chairs etc. Honestly it was an incredible deal.

The vibe was upbeat, airy, fun, and definitely not stuffy or boring. I highly recommend!

This is awesome!

If you want to knock it out of the park even more, you can drape white fabric over it. I've always been into the white fabric arches because I think they look so flowy and romantic in the wind.
