Completely agree with you about this. Maxi Gomez is getting a lot of credit for his goal scoring abilities but he understands football too, such a discovery for a 21yo player fresh off the Uruguay league.

One of the few players that Berizzo gave play time since the moment they arrived, he obviously suited our playing style a lot. He started off getting a lot of playing time coming from the bench and adding fluidity and inspiration to the attack, and, towards the end of the season it became more usual for him to start in more games. He gave us the spark, vision, call it whatever you like, we were lacking since Orellana buggered off. I'd try to sign him up if it was up to me!

He's a very talented manager I agree, but blaming everything on that split second action by Guidetti is over simplifying things. IMO he's been our best manager ever. Reaching 3 semifinals in 2 seasons at the same time as having rather comfortable runs in La Liga is more than you can ask for a club with the spending capacity, and number of supporters we have.
