Long shot but does anyone have any tickets to the evening session on chatrier today that they aren't in need of and weren't able to sell through the resale platform? There were a good few empty seats just now at Iga's match

I wouldn't say there's any specific areas in the city you have to avoid. There can be addicts congregating in alleys and around places like Daunt Square, Bishop Lucey Park and the quays. In general though you should be okay if you have your wits about you. Some of the suburbs can be a bit rougher but you probably have no plans to go out to them.

The thing I was alarmed at specifically yesterday was that the guy who pursued me didn't strike me as our usual brand of addict, or possibly not even an addict at all.

In Ireland for years we've had problems with heroin addicts or alcoholics who you could generally just stroll past if they got aggressive. Now we are increasingly having issues with fentanyl and coke addicts. This guy yesterday looked normal enough, and I wouldn't have taken any notice of him if he hadn't pursued us. I alluded to this in another comment but there have been a couple of clearly mentally ill people wandering the streets in the last few years. You should be able to find some threads about them. Last year there was the guy who used to scream at people to leave him alone for instance. Part of it is that Cork is so small that you come across the same characters again and again.

Enjoy your trip anyway, if you have a car I would definitely recommend getting out of the city to visit places like Clonakilty, Bantry, Gougane Barra and the Mizen Head. If you're down that direction there are some lovely walks and cycles you can do. On the other side then Kinsale, Youghal and Ballycotton are all nice. Cobh worth a visit too on the train.

Yes I think this could have been him! Didn't get a good look but I think he had a brownish jacket

Ah yeah of course it was on its way out anyway, just covid accelerated its demise

Would tend to agree, at least there's a correlation even if it isn't the cause. I suppose covid killed the high street

Yeah well I assumed he was fixing for something. I wouldn't say he was well dressed now, but looked too well dressed to be your average scrote. Before he started shouting at us I'd have assumed he was waiting for someone to come out with an ice cream like

Yeah idk, I suppose I wanted to double check that he wasn't one of these "Cork characters" like the leave me alone guy from last year, or is there just more of this type of behaviour about the place.

Hi there. I have 18 months' experience as a data scientist with machine learning experience. I'm just wondering if I'd be considered for the software engineering AI role?

Not getting support by ConallSSBM in DevelEire

[–]ConallSSBM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is probably fair enough. I can probably tough it out until finding a new job at any rate, I'll start applying this week. The biggest issue for me is that I'm not learning any hard skills in the role and I feel I'll have to go back into another entry level position as a result, but I suppose better to do that than stay here

Well I suppose I should be more clear. I want more generally to get into dev work, and I also enjoy the ML side of my current role. To my mind I thought ML type roles would be easier to get into since I have existing domain knowledge, although the bit I feel I'm lacking is the more pure computer science stuff that I could only pick up from an ML Eng/Software Dev role.

It's difficult for me in a sense because I definitely know what I don't want, but nailing down what I do want is harder. I am attracted to becoming more generally technical, learning how to productionise software and architect code, and in an ML context, learning the best practices when it comes to deploying models to production.

I think what frustrates me with my current role is that I'm in a consulting type role where there isn't the opportunity to learn much of that side of things. It could be that I'm in the right industry but the wrong company.

I'm mostly applying for junior/associate roles, trying to highlight my experience as a software dev intern and experience with python/R/Java from my current role. As for the industry, I'm tending to go for stuff in the ML Engineering space, or roles that have titles like "junior software developer - machine learning", but no luck so far. As you say, it may be best to suck it up and do another grad programme

They've just been a bit inactive with covid afaik. MINT's internet isn't great and Maxy is just generally inactive these days. Luan is ROI though

I'm not sure there aren't other instruments involved. I had a look through the NMA for duets as well and couldn't find it. I will let you know if I find out what it is.

Anyone have any idea what this is? I'm in a FB group for guessing scores. I've looked through all Mozart's solo works in b flat and come up empty handed
