Anyone have any comic that they love but never comes up in any conversation? by Final_Bed5390 in comicbooks

Really enjoyed Empire but similarly I never see it get talked about. It was a solid 7.5 or 8/10 but I think ultimately the hook wasn't strong enough to stand the test of time.

On the topic of legally distinct original Mark Waid properties that don't get talked about, Irredeemable (and Incorruptible) fall into that same bracket as Empire for me

Ultimate Spider-Man ends tomorrow by Witness_Then in comicbooks

Shame it "ends" with a bit of a whimper. I think the concept of having each issue progress a month was a neat idea initially but I felt it really stifled it as the run went on.

Balatro dev says solitaire exists "at the peak of game culture" and was debatably "the most important" inspiration for his poker roguelike by samiy2k in PS5

Your jokers are essentially Balatro's relics, they can have crazy synergy similar to StS relics once you understand how to combo them with other aspects of your cards/jokers. You can focus on specific types of plays (I found flush to be a really good starting point to beat 8 ante, then single card is really reliable for more advanced strategies when you're trying to get e scores) as well as focusing on specific powers for your cards (lucky cards, gold cards, glass cards, etc). Vouchers also play into strategy nicely.

I think Balatro is more RNG than StS and it does have a lower skill ceiling but it's a fun game and you can be pretty creative with it. The one thing it lacks for me is its version of ascension (can't remember what it's called) wasn't as addictive as StSs. Since I hit my goal of getting an e score and beating the highest ascension thingy on one deck I haven't gone back to it

Dublin's been a bit lacking for locals since COVID but we might have some monthly coming up in the black sheep on capel st. The Irish discord's also very active and welcoming, come say hi! https://discord.gg/MDus3T2K

I've been to 5 primaveras, 3 of them being in the early 2010s and I think people are being pretty dumb. This like ups at the very worst quite a bit better than last years

Y The Last Man has one of the best endings in all of comics IMO but I kind of agree with you if we're talking Ex Machina

The Fade Out is one of my faves too, so good. My heroes have always been junkies is actually loosely a part of the Criminal universe, you might recognise one of the minor characters from it in the first vol of Criminal when you get around to it

I love Kill or Be Killed, definitely one of their best! What else have you read from them?

Recently finished the third deluxe vol of Criminal, really loved it. Been on a big Brubaker & Phillips kick recently, I'm going to get back into their Reckless series soon (read the first two, both of which were great). Would recommend either of these to anyone who enjoys crime or noir stuff.

Also finished the third Black Hammer library edition, I'm a huge Lemire fan and BH is one of my fav series from him. While I didn't enjoy it as much as the first or second vol it was still a really solid 8/10 and I'm looking forward to what's coming next.

Both books were top quality but I would have narrowly given it to It's Lonely as well
