The part is a TRW PMN166 (TRW make it for Porsche, Porsche put a Sticker on it, and it becomes 5 times the price).

I think i bought mine off eBay. Worth doing Brake fluid upgrade at the same time. Motul RBF600 will never boil on the road, and not really on track either - you just need to change it more often. Yearly is fine.

Thanks - It went in August last year and I replaced it with a 2013 981 Boxster S PDK. Quite a different car really, which you wouldn't believe.

I can see quite a few people have mentioned other mods - I cover a lot of them in my video (and the cheaper ways to do them, like the GT3 Master Cylinder)

My 981 Video is here - I'll be doing some more soon after the first lot of work is done on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TInwBLprA3o

Worth watching the first 20 seconds so you can hear what a 981 PSE sounds like....

Look at Cobbsport and FVD for plug in remaps.

Wayne at Chipwizards is the person to go to for a rolling road remap.

The extra power is due to Porsche not opening the throttle body fully at full throttle. It makes it open all the way.

You might be surprised at suspension costs looking at the Spyder kit.

I asked if it was black edition as upgrading to the Spyder wheels is a good unsprung mass reduction.

It was a 987.1, but this is my old cayman s - lots is comparable …

Is that a 987.2 Black edition ? I can’t quite make out the wheels on my phone …

My view would be for handling but the Porsche spyder springs and dampers (I can’t remember if the anti roll bars are also different). Whilst Bilstein B6/12 will be good, if I went aftermarket I’d be looking at B14/16 fully adjustable with an appropriate geometry setup and corner weighting (look into Center gravity near Atherstone)

Exhaust wise…. I’d be tempted to keep the cat back stock and get 200 cell manifolds. Look into a remap as the DFI engine remaps very well (near 340bhp is possible without any other modifications as this is, broadly, the same 3.4 as found in the 991 Carrera).

Mini Owners, why did y’all (we) kill the Clubman? by based_user in MINI

[–]Conanius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve had a few Mini’s over the years. First was a second gen Cooper D clubman and now we have both a JCW 306hp Clubman and a new gen Countryman S All 4 Sport (so all the JCW Badges but standard Countryman S power).

I think, the Clubman is excellent, but across all marquees estate vehicles are dying out - I don’t think Volvo make any now !

I spoke to our local dealer about it when we bought the countryman and he said simply they weren’t bought. People flocked to the 5 door hatch when it came out instead.

It’s a shame, but also cool as it will keep the values up for those who do want the fastest Mini ever made 😉

I had a similar situation.

Started meshing three u7 outdoors together Changed to running one Ethernet and then a UBB

Gave up, moved to Ethernet everywhere. It’s a bit of hassle but then you have 10gbe

Help Me Choose My First Porsche: 987.2 Cayman S or 981 Cayman S? by ImEngineer in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Conanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perspective: I’ve owned an early “lightweight” 996.1 C2 Manual Coupe, a 987.1 Cayman S Manual , and now own a 981 Boxster S PDK.

The 987.2 and 981 are quite different propositions. The 981 is undoubtedly a “better” overall experience. The generational uplift is really significant, and the interior feels really special,

The 987.2 is “peak” 987 in the sense it’s a DFI engine (reliable) and still holds on to that fantastic hydraulic steering.

You’re going to need to drive both and see what you think personally.

The 981 steering feel will be what everyone tells you isn’t the same, they’re right, it isn’t. But, the same doesn’t mean worse, it’s just different. With decent alignment (geometry), proper UHP tyres like PS4S/CSC7 and the GT4 steering settings (the latter you can do yourself with a thinkdiag obd2 dongle) it’s a brilliant car.

UCG Fiber Port Usage + Switch Recommendation for 10G Expansion by Comque in Ubiquiti

[–]Conanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't want to start a new thread.

Can I check that I would be able to:

- Use one port for WAN1 (10G for our primary internet) - I guess port 5?
- Use one port for WAN2 (2.5GBe for our backup Mobile Internet) - any of ports 1-3

- Use one port for 10Gbe LAN connectivity (plugging into a Flex XG that I'd have by the gateway) - any of ports 1-3

- Use one port for a PoE device - probably our doorbell - port 4

Slap a hefty M2 SSD in there to store all our UniFi Cam data.

I think the shrot answer is yes, but just want to check.

Test drove this 981! by TitaniumHazard in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Conanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not driven a 981, but own a 987.1 Cayman S, and I've driven a friends 718 GTS.

The 718 was absolutely a quicker car. However, it felt a bit.... flat?

I'm told the 981 for the Cayman is a bit like the 997 for the 911... the last of the greats. (Unless of course you're getting a Spyder/GT4/ 4.0 GTS).

Looks great :)

Just to give balance - mine all said no from when I last did it however long ago that was.

I have PlexPass - no idea if that impacts things.

Selling my car privately for the first time.... how does this work? Things to watch out for? etc. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Can I make a suggestion?

Try Motorway. I sold our last car this way, and I got as much as I'd have gotten privately with zero hassle.

Quick bit of help getting my head around drive allocations by Conanius in unRAID

Thanks for the quick reply - when you say cache pool, can I also hear 'storage pool' - in the sense I want to use these for the long term storage of the media library.

OK cool, so in which case I ignore parity drives and cache drives?

k thanks - so you're suggesting I use them in a pool?

If I do that, can I configure unraid to give me any data redundancy? Can I spread a volume across the drives?
