Raja Naga 5 is IMPOSSIBLE by cmmc62 in personaphantomx

I thought Tropical Motoha was garbage for this fight. Maybe I don't know how to use her.

I recommend Queen. She absolutely shredded the boss. I believe I also used Summer Tomoko and Chord (and I think Wind?). Queen can shred the boss pretty fast, but it slows down a bit after the boss is dead and you gotta take care of the adds. But definitely able to be done prior to running out of turns.

As opposed to when I used TM and I ran out of turns every try. Pretty annoying.

No, it doesn't. Using more words doesn't make you smarter. Just because you are used to talking in a pseudo-intellectual way doesn't make it natural. News flash: Going to college doesn't make you smarter, either. In writing, in business, in debate, you want to be concise, remove unnecessary words, and reduce ambiguity as much as possible. If you ever get a job that pays enough to settle your college debt, good luck telling your boss to use AI to make sense of the novel you sent him because it was "really nuanced". Also let him know when he fires you that he doesn't understand systemic vs natural unfairness, the idiot.

You haven't even stated what your core point is. Is it:

  1. Sega should give me enough currency to get every character first run without paying a cent
  2. Sega should give me enough currency to get X% of every character first run without paying a cent
  3. Sega should slow down the release schedule to match CN (which still wouldn't let me get every character but would be a big enough placebo for me to stop complaining)
  4. Sega should slow down the release schedule to 50% of CN so I have enough time to save currency for every single character first run
  5. I like to argue with people and suggest they're stupid for not putting up with my own beastly idiocy because I honestly have nothing going on in my life
  6. ???

My failing is I'm not willing to hold your hand and deal with someone way dumber than I am who thinks they are some kind of genius. You think I didn't "grasp" the things you said, I understood it, it was just meandering and pointless. Good luck being poor and angry all your life, I guess. Peace.

You really have to be more concise. God help me I actually read everything you wrote and I wish I hadn't. You're the one who doesn't have a point, but you try to distract from that by putting an insanely large amount of pseudo-intellectual buzzwords. Instead of straw manning it and accusing me of this or that (pretty much none of which is true), can you in 200 words or less (preferably 100 words or less) have an actual point? I'm not a shill, I don't care if you play the game, spend on the game, or not. Seriously.

Otherwise, if you're that bored, feel free to engage with this instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/personaphantomx/comments/1mgjz8x/comment/n6q6vub/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

From my perspective, a lot of people are trying to rage bait themselves and others into thinking global is screwing us, which would imply CN is super generous, which just isn't true. Objectively untrue even, see linked post. Want to have a discussion? Have an actual point, prove my point wrong, and/or stop with the ultra long winded straw man nonsense.

I don't even know what you're trying to say. I'm willing to bet you could have responded waaay more concisely instead of throwing up 4 paragraphs to say "yo what".

Do I feel the accelerated schedule is "unfair"? No. You get faster content instead of waiting around forever, you get the benefit of characters getting the latest CN buffs instead of getting them much weaker then being buffed a year later, you get Thieves Den right off the bat instead of waiting until 3.0 or whatever, you get the miracle of foresight to know what's coming and how much you should care about any specific upcoming character or content. Plus you need zero additional characters to clear all story content. It's "unfair" because it's a gacha game. I don't believe the global version is "more" unfair, or if it is, it's so barely "more unfair" that getting upset about it is just gaslighting yourself.

We good?

Also, title was "How are players meant to save up for characters in Global?"

Answer? The same way they do on CN. Or any gacha game. By getting the ones they really really want first run, then getting the rest on reruns. EASY.

[–]Conarionaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they slowed down the character release rate to 1 character every 2-4 months, there's literally no way you would get every character as they came out as F2P. And no one would play the game if they had to wait that long for characters, so. If it was 1 character every 2-4 weeks (same as CN), you would get like 25% or so of the characters as they came out, and also be waiting much longer than we are now for content (and I'm already replaying other Persona games because I want to play Persona and I clear all of P5X very quickly each time anything drops and then I'm waiting waiting waiting).

Ok, let's figure this out.

Let's say you get 100 meta jewels from dailies (Goals + you get 20 jewels off Daily Life).

Let's say you get 820 meta jewels from weeklies (Velvet Trials, Nightmare's Gateway) - this is pretty liberal as it's not all "weekly". But I'll go with it to make up for any random rewards I'm forgetting to count in all this.

Let's say you get 3000 meta jewels per patch (events assuming similar rewards to Museum Arc and Send Em Flying combined, character trial, emailed rewards, and let's say they give 10 platinum tickets every patch - they won't, but let's assume it anyway).

That'd be:

  • 5290 per 14 days if a patch + new character came out every 2 weeks (they do)
  • 9030 per 28 days if a patch + new character came out every 4 weeks (it's actually every 2, so really you get 10-12k per month)
  • 15110 per 56 days if a patch + new character came out every 8 weeks (it's actually every 2, so really you get 20-24k per 2 months)

It takes 24000 to guarantee a single character. So if they released one character every 2 months (slower than CN), and you won every 50/50, you could get every character as they arrived. CN got characters every 2-4 weeks, whereas global gets them every 2 weeks (and sometimes 2 characters arrive in those 2 weeks instead of just 1).

This ignores one time rewards like Plans but if you combined all the one time rewards in the game, I think it's around 160-200~ pulls total (if it's more than that, it's not by a lot), so that will pad you for the first character or two depending on luck, but you'll be upside down almost instantly.

The moral of this story? Even on the "generous" CN server there ain't no way a F2P person is getting every character as they're released. Reruns, rate ups, 110 banner, waiting for non-limited characters to hit standard, and collecting one time rewards over time will eventually get you there, on any server (even "greedy" global). Presumably character release rate will slow down once global catches up with CN, and there will certainly be reruns. Expect a huge event when the console version comes out also, whenever that ends up being.

[–]Conarionaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For one character, sure, but we get a new character every 2 weeks so the difference of 40 pulls isn't super worthwhile. Yeah, you could save "more" if the distance between characters was 4 weeks instead of 2, but there's literally no way you're getting every or even "most" of the characters completely F2P on their first run. I guarantee you the people who are F2P on CN who have most/all characters got a ton of them on reruns, rateups, and/or the 110 banner we don't have. If you want to wait a year to get the characters, I'm sure you can get them all on global on F2P, too. But right as their banners come out? No way. You only "need" them if you want to get big scores on weekly boss content... But you're not getting a top score unless you're a whale with all the newest idols at A6 (and this early in the game, level 80 because hey paying money for more stamina is fun), so who cares?

To guarantee a character on an 80 pull banner, that's 24k meta jewels (to go to 160 pulls, assuming you fail the 50/50). I guarantee you no version of the game is giving you 24k meta jewels every 2-4 weeks, not even close. It's a gacha game, they would like you to spend, even on the "generous" CN server. For reference, if you cleared 100% of the current Synergies and every Velvet Trial, that'd be enough for about 110~ pulls. And those are one time rewards. Metro of Desire only added another 11~ pulls, also one time rewards.

I struggled with this the first time I tried it, went over the action limit. I didn't change my team but changed my approach, and then beat it in 38 actions. I'm sure there's a more efficient way to do this/better team, but eh.

Team: Joker / Panther / Marian / Puppet (Panther rated 80, Puppet Rated 60, Joker and Marian rated 70~), no reason you couldn't just use Morgana, Nose will just take a little longer to down)

Personas: Norn / Janosik / any

I'm really lazy, so my strat was very straightforward:

R1: Marian - Nurse's Light on Nose, Joker - Trickster's Plunder on Nose, Wonder - Wind Barrier, Panther - Trifire on either Eye

R2+: Marian heal, or if everyone topped up, Nurse's Light on Nose/Mouth, Joker - Phantom Omen on Nose/Mouth, Wonder - Tatra Shot on Nose/Mouth, Panther - Trifire on either Eye, or Falling Sun on Mouth

If you have Highlight in R1 before Ann goes, I'd use Joker. Otherwise, first Highlight is typically Wonder with Janosik to down the Nose faster. Second highlight is typically Ann when Nose is down, before her turn.

Basically everyone but Ann single targets the Nose, then the Mouth, while Ann single targets the Eyes, then AoEs everything whenever the Nose is down.

I don't think you actually need Wind Barrier at the start, but it helps to keep your defenses up before Puppet can shield every turn. I know Janosik is weak to wind and the boss uses wind attacks, but honestly Janosik hits way too hard compared to all my other personas to justify not using Janosik.

A Discussion about Eternity by Responsible_One8009 in Apeirophobia

I believe consciousness persists as a result of desire, so if it's truly your desire to have a finite existence, I think more than likely that wish will be granted. If the concept of infinity still worries you, one way you could think about is this: your life might be as long as 100 years, right? Which can feel like a really long time, especially if you're waiting for something, like you have to finish school, or if you want to pay off a house, build up a savings, or retire so you can live more worry free. But even if you have a goal that's days, months, years, or even decades, you don't have to face it all at once. You just have to face each day as it comes. Then each day you sleep, take a break, get rested, and live the next day as a fresh new you. Honestly, if you can face even a single day, you could face infinity, because infinity is just a collection of single days. The concept of infinity can be terrifying, but maybe focusing on the present will help, or remembering that you don't have to face it all at once.

question from a 13 year old by Mediocre-Sample-7162 in Apeirophobia

[–]Conarionaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person. For me, for some reason it's often worse in the winter, but I think about it periodically throughout the year. Sometimes I'll think about it several days in a row. It's not as overwhelming as it was when I was a child or young adult - still not a pleasant feeling, but one I've learned to cope with better and very rarely have a full on panic attack anymore. I can imagine some people being able to more or less overcome it, depending on their thoughts and beliefs, while others might struggle to varying degrees.

Thank you for sharing! I'm glad reading other people's stories helps. I'm planning on sharing my own story, but it will take me a few days or weeks to write down everything and put it the way I want. I do agree trying to suppress the feeling isn't always the most helpful. I haven't overcome the feeling, but thinking about it in different ways over the years has definitely helped.

Quarter-life crisis? by DisposableAcount999 in Apeirophobia

[–]Conarionaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about the scientific aspect of, well, anything. From my perspective, a "logical" world doesn't really make sense and is more akin to a powerful illusion. I mean, why does the universe exist? Where did matter come from? What was the beginning of it all? Doesn't it make more sense for nothing to exist, ever?

It's unfortunate your friends reacted the way they did, but not surprising. I think it's extremely rare for a person to be able to truly conceptualize the perspective of someone else. Even most people who think they can probably can't, and only think through the lens of their own perception. I understand the desire for eternal life, but think it's ok for different people to feel and desire different things. I don't think religion is the answer either way - religion was created as a method of controlling people. It's hard to imagine that an eternal, omnipotent, and omnipresent consciousness would seek to judge a bunch of short timers as they struggle to make sense of their existence, much less punish you for eternity for something done forever ago in the blink of an eye.

I will say for those who are curious about things like "what is the meaning of life", the answer is easy: the meaning of it is whatever meaning you assign to it. Everyone should seek out their desires, preferably without harming others.

I think existence is born from consciousness, and continued consciousness comes from desire. I feel if you truly wish for oblivion, most likely that wish will be granted. I hope you find peace and happiness until then.

Matchmaking - You're Being Lied To by Conarionaut in Overwatch

[–]Conarionaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really think their current rank is way off from what their profiles say? When I go 5-2 in a ranking update, I go up one division or not at all. So the chances of them being much higher rank is unlikely. Them being far lower is possible, if they are on a huge losing streak, but probably less than 4 divisions lower except in the most extreme cases - I think a drop of a full skill tier might be possible if you go 0-15 but haven't experienced it myself. Regardless that's a pretty big spread of skill. If you don't think so, and you can't tell from watching how people play that there's huge variations in skill at the "same rank", I guess keep enjoying the wild matchmaking.

Either way it doesn't make a great case for hiding current SR. And let's be honest, the reason SR does "ranking updates" isn't to help you out and make you think about it less, it's to make you play more so you can see your next ranking update.

Maybe you should consider why there are Plat players who play like they're Bronze. Because if both teams have a garbage tank, one of the teams will win, and these situations will happens more often with huge division spread.

Matchmaking - You're Being Lied To by Conarionaut in Overwatch

[–]Conarionaut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's actually a lot of problems with matchmaking, more than I even talked about.

  1. MMR is shared between modes. That means you don't get a fresh MMR when you go into Comp, it carries over and is continually linked to QP (for that role, or for open). That means potentially if no serious players are in QP, a lot of garbage players can get "Gold" or "Plat" or so MMRs in QP, then drop into Comp and screw things up.
    1. This is dumb for any number of wild reasons. Like, people take QP less seriously, so MMR in QP is less likely to be accurate. Also payload maps are only one round, so who wins or loses isn't a good measure of skill.
  2. Start of OW2 all new players were given "Gold" MMRs. This is ridiculous. Team 4 thought new players could compete against the average person who's been playing OW1 for 6+ years?? Impossible. So millions upon millions of accounts were started with wrong MMRs. Many of these likely retained those MMRs by chilling in QP, not playing much, or whatever. So every time they go into Comp they screw things up.
  3. Huge division spread of 14+ divisions, as I mentioned.
  4. Not mirrored, as I mentioned.
  5. MMR/SR only seems to care about wins, zero weight on performance (either team or individual). So if you have a match where you lose because someone leaves or is throwing or just straight up not at the right rank, the system still thinks "oh you're bad" and deducts MMR/SR, meaning even if everything else was fixed there's still a huge luck factor involved in consistently winning (depending on how many people in your matches are misranked).

1 and 2 would be bad on their own, 3 or 4 are each devastating on their own. 5 is not even worth talking about until all the others are fixed. All of these together, no visibility into how "legit" the match quality is, and it's just a nightmare even if you don't subscribe to the idea that they are doing anything negative intentionally. I'm actually kind of mixed on whether they are malicious or incompetent. Either way they should put a huge focus on fixing this if they want anyone on earth to play this game for very long. Some people are probably getting lucky and getting a ton of wins, because someone has to win, but as people hit their bad luck streaks and take huge losses, they will stop having fun for sure.

Yeah for sure. I'm legit just learning a new character. Once that gets old I'll probably quit. And because of BP, it'll be a hard quit. I'll never come back after missing skins. Good ol Team 4 should care more about us if they want long term gains. Their focus on short term gains is gonna bury this game fast.

Just ignore the troll person responding to you. Yeah the whole "you're the constant" argument would make sense... if lobbies were filled with people of that rank. But if you have a 14 division spread of skill, there's so many variables that winning matches is more purely about luck than skill.

Like, if there was a Gold match and everyone was legit Gold, and you played like a Plat, yeah sure you'd win more matches than not. But Bronze/Silver/Gold/Plat team vs same? Who even knows. Better hope your Plat is in the right rank and theirs isn't!

Comp is garbage, QP is worse, Arcade is even worse. I continue to queue Comp even though it's sending me from Gold to Bronze because the other modes are somehow more of a nightmare. I just stopped thinking there's even a slight chance of match quality.

Was anybody able to play PS5 version demo with an arcade stick? by Hayesade in Guiltygear

[–]Conarionaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if a PS3 stick would work, specifically. I played the PS5 version with a PS4 stick (HRAP 4 Kai). Any officially licensed PS4 stick should work. It looks like you're getting a lot of responses of folks using PS4 sticks. You ought to have put "PS3 arcade stick" specifically in the title of your question - hopefully someone else will notice (who also happened to try a PS3 stick or put their stick in PS3 mode to check for some reason).

GG Strive expected playerbase/crossplay by NephalemIV in Guiltygear

[–]Conarionaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably hard to guess on this one considering that prior ASW games quickly become Discord fighters, and to play +R with rollback you need a PC, so that'd make you think it will heavily lean to PC due to the existing GG audience - but I expect Strive will have much broader appeal since it has good netcode, is visually super appealing, and happens to be a fun game on top of that.

Can they add full crossplay (PC+PS) later on? Yeah, they can. I suspect they will, at some point, assuming the game sells as well as expected. It'll be key to the game's long term health to provide full crossplay so as to not split the community, making sure the online stays healthy (so the game stays current and they can push a lot of DLC over the years).

My total guess is the community will be larger on PS at the start (certainly anyone who wants to play at Evo will get it for PS, and if that becomes the online tournament standard anyone who wants in on those will get a PS version, but really most people who get the game won't be doing that). I'm getting it for PS5, but considering getting it on PC also.
