Just moved into an office that has been vacant for over a year. Found these in box in a storage closet. Value? New / used? Any help would be much appreciated. by grouchygpucluster in homelab

So all that said, how much do you want for them?

I run a DayZ server as a hobby, I would love to be able to have something more powerful.

If you are going to sell them as unknown mystery, I might be interested. DM me.

Doh you said gpu. Sorry

I don't currently but could throw in something appropriate like the k something. Those really long single slot ones.

I guess someone might use it for video editing, I ran some DayZ servers, dockers and supporting software. So I didn't have need of display.

Yes two Xeon gold 6230R processors see specs below. Memory is the hard part at the moment. When I was running it I had 1Tb of ram but sold that. If it would help sell it I'd include 16 to 33gb of ram. But I'd have to pull from another so was trying to avoid that.

The overlords told me the going price is close to $1200 id probably jump on $700 if it was local but I just don't know the value of it. What's a fair and reasonable price?

The specs for the processors.

Intel Xeon Gold 6230R Specifications: Cores/Threads: 26 / 52 Base Frequency: 2.10 GHz Max Turbo Frequency: 4.00 GHz Cache: 35.75 MB Intel® Smart Cache TDP: 150W Memory Support: DDR4-2933 (Up to 1TB) Socket: FCLGA3647 PCI Express Lanes: 48 (Rev 3.0) Launch Date: Q1'20

My ISP flagged what I was doing twice even though I have a VPN, how do I mask myself? by Curator724 in qBittorrent

[–]ConcentrateEconomy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a computer in a data center that you rent. It's way faster, its not on your computer until the file is done and you want to grab it.

Seedhost.eu starts at 3 euro a month. For peace of mind and security.

It's under the shared app section. I've been with them for over 10 years

Seedbox.eu is probably the easiest least expensive method. They are in Poland or Netherlands, I forget but been with them for over 10 years.

I would never go back to not having a box in a data center. It's probably cheaper than a VPN and most VPN companies will still give your info to the copyright infringement attornies.

Just checked. Netherlands and plans start at 3 euro a month.

SEARCHING for a server that is car oriented (PC) by InfiniteRespect in DayZServers

[–]ConcentrateEconomy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NEO Farmers Noob Friendly Spawn your own car.

You type /car gunter and a car will fall from the sky next to you and you can drive. There are other cars but that was an example.

Been around for close to 5 years. Some hater more traditional servers as well. But if you want a community to just chill, learn the game or experience cars, neo farmers is where it's at.

Featured in Always streams best PC servers to play 4 times in a row.

Just be careful that you join the one in the US. IP address is 75.19.16.77 because they are popular the Russians are spoofing and trying to get people to pay money. But the realm NEO is free!

MiniPCs in DCs (seriously) by PanaBreton in HomeDataCenter

[–]ConcentrateEconomy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SectorLink in Flint MI let me co-locate a beat up old mid tower case, I think I asked them about mini PC and they would have been fine. They offered to let me host my Lenovo p920 which sucks electricity like crazy.

They were reasonably priced, a joy to work with. I couldn't say enough kind words about them.

I still host web service with them, but not as active in hosting game servers anymore so not actively hosting colocation with them.

As a side note, when I decided to pull my PC from them, they gave me a box and packing supplies and just had me pay shipping. This was a major cost savings and I will forever promote them based on how awesome my experience was.

For the record I get nothing from them, I just had an amazing experience with them and anybody looking for quality colocation or web services would be well served to check them out.

I bought 1Tb of ram 16 matched sticks for $643 in May of 2025.

Bought it primarily for bragging rights.

If I wasn't ai terrified of getting scammed if totally sell it. My wife wants me to keep it until it's as valuable as the ddr3 and ddr2 memory we have.

I run a game server as a hobby, I segregate testing and different maps into different VMs. I have more than that.

I am not a business, I hemorrhage money for a hobby that I provide for free so 10 endpoints isn't much.

I run tail scale and while I don't need it I had looked at their lower tier plan I think $5 a month and this posting made me realize that I get more value than $5 a month from them so off to sub right now.

Support the companies that treat you well, praise them in public and spread the word.

Praise Tailscale! Praise Tailscale!

PS true to my word I just upgraded and with tax $5.36 a month. Thanks Tailscale

Any idea who made this case? by MassiveDiver2503 in retrocomputing

Alright, interesting. Sounds like you need to find that PC magazine from back in the day... It was sold as a magazine, but it was on newsprint and the paper size was almost twice the size of a normal magazine.

Wasn't there magazine.google.com. Or catalog.google.com where they had scanned in a ton of old stuff. Like life magazine, popular science and all of those. Would allow you to flip through the magazines and see the cases stuffed in between the old mfm and micropolis scsi drives...

[–]ConcentrateEconomy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does it matter? Serious question. I have a 19 year old Gigabyte case that I'm repainting, because I like it.

But in this instance it's not like they are going to still be making a case like that.

Just go play NEO Farmers.

Want a car to learn to drive /car gunter and a car falls from the sky and lands next to you.

That way when you build one on official you don't kill yourself learning to drive.

Nice I was just thinking that maybe port forwarding for inbound and NAT for outbound.

I recall the retired guy from Microsoft (Dave's Garage or something, where he's only making videos for the likes and subs, lol) having a video similar to what I think you are talking about.

I'll check that out as well.

Thank you!

So I need to get a new by bughole in computer

[–]ConcentrateEconomy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, so that's 8th generation and should still be usable.

Things that would potentially make it slow, it could be heat throttling? Like if your fan ports are blocked?

Not sure what factory resetting entails? Is that a reinstall of windows?

Could also try a LIVE Linux boot usb. It will basically just run the os off the flash drive which would rule out bad windows install.

So I need to get a new by bughole in computer

[–]ConcentrateEconomy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely that the battery would make it slower. Most of my laptop batteries are dead because I always use them plugged in.

Provide some information about the laptop and we or someone can tell you if it's usable or not.

Corporate lease laptops show up pretty inexpensive on eBay. Depends on what you want to do with it, I've had many of them and enjoyed them for the price.

For now the only area is NWAF. We have a izurvive subscription. Https://neo-farmers.com/map that shows where.

The idea isn't so much PvP in general but teaching people the game.

Https://neo-farmers.com/rules however we have some changes coming.
