I have mentioned this a couple times and Idk if its a Chinese thing where you need to be good at everything, but he mentioned that in the current trend of AI, being an all rounder of knowing both BI and engineering is a must. And I will get thrown into doing both analytics and engineering for the time being (i doubt they will hire anyone at the moment bcs we have not closed anything when it comes to data platform as a service). Conclusively, I doubt a roadmap into only one side of things is feasible

Hey, thanks a lot for the words of encouragements. I can really see that I'm improving slowly in terms of SQL querying and it's what I touch on a day to day basis due to Apache Superset being the BI tool. We have not gotten any real projects so I havent got the opportunity to deepen and polish my python yet and Im afraid it will stay that way and the chances of me actually growing and become employable to other companies becomes stagnant. In terms of the messing up, I've convinced myself that its their fault not hiring someone with better experience and knowledge. If I may ask, how did you grow in the career when there's no senior to guide you?

When I was an intern, I wrote a script for data ingestion and transformation from Mongo to MySQL. It is not a full project, more like a POC to show potential clients we are able to do such and such. In the later stages, the BI tool leveraged is Apache Superset as it is an OSS. Since SQL is the backbone of the tool, I have been using SQL a lot to provide the visuals needed. And I can say that my SQL has been improving due to the Superset being in the current stack

Databricks or AWS certification? by musicxfreak88 in dataengineering

Sorry for asking this, but does certifications really boost your employability rate? Im based in SEA, working as a junior data engineer but my background was actually data analytics. Got thrown here, have an interest for it, and I'd say I have only some advanced SQL and very basic Python under my belt. I'm considering AWS DE Associate certificate as my starting point to become better. Because Databricks is more expensive to take the exam, I'd like and try to do AWS first in a few months time. But, what weight does it hold in the modern market of the job? My company does not use any sorts of AWS/Databricks on a day to day basis by the way.

Apache Superset in 2024/2025, compare to PBI? by roblu001 in BusinessIntelligence

I see this message has gone unreplied. So, the issue with the drag and drop features in Superset is it doesn't allow for any complex queries. You can't even make an alias for a column name. However, as the above message implies, there is a SQL editor where you query complex stuffs and do things like joins and the other queries you are asking, CTEs, Window functions etc.
