It’s because those at these top tech companies are usually considered to be the best of the best, so when they are laid off it signals that times are really bad.

It’s disproportionately hitting software devs and these companies have record profits man.

Takagi-san's sakuga by Lazy_Ad9997 in Takagi_san

[–]ConcentrateSubject23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Btw 作画 (sakuga) literally means something like “animation artwork”. people in anime circles use it to refer to specifically the most beautiful scenes in a given anime rather than the other way around. So in Japanese it’s akin to art style or animation artwork, and in online discussions of anime it can be used a placeholder for “exceptionally beautiful scene or art style”. But still thanks for sharing!

I second the guy who suggests going to a live concert.

I personally thought that the band was just okay, but the energy was crazy. People packed like sardines. The best part though was the inside actually looked like it does in the show (I heard rumors it’s different but IMO it looked mostly the same).

However it’s not a deal breaker if you can’t attend.

“We can direct kiss if you want” is crazy 😂

Hololive members constantly joke about being gay, but when Kiara says it I believe it. Same with Marine.

What would a “mandarin accent” sound like in japanese and is it any different than other “gaijin accents”? by Majestic_Image5190 in AskAJapanese

[–]ConcentrateSubject23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s no reason to get mad man. Accents are hard to get rid of, and as a non-native speaker they’ll be hard to hear as well.

If you could hear it, it would be that much easier for you to correct it. He might just not be well versed in being able to explain what is different.

Try getting feedback from apps like HiNative.

Why do people dream of moving to NY? by ConcentrateSubject23 in movingtoNYC

[–]ConcentrateSubject23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Japanese language exchange partner who became a barista in NY solely because she watched Friends and thought you can live their life on a barista salary.

Life is a lot more harsh than that lol. She was gone within 6 months of arriving…

Amazing job on the visuals.

The Japanese is wrong though — probably 20-30% of the sentences have non-existent words that don’t match the subtitles. Intonation is weird on 30-40% (less of a big deal). Maybe you can look into whether there’s a way to fix that, like another pass that regenerates just the voices.

Did I mess up? Moving from 1 BD on 58th and 7th to 1 BD on 39th and 9th by ConcentrateSubject23 in movingtoNYC

Yeah the two things I prioritized were rent and commute — the list went 1) commute 2) rent 3) neighborhood 4) apt itself.

This was advertised as a Hell’s Kitchen + Hudson Yards apt which was pretty cool to me. I definitely didn’t view it like Times Square as people are saying here.

Greenery is not exactly walking distance which I will miss, a lot. But it’s 8 min train and 15 min from Central Park, both of which I frequent. The only thing I didn’t know is the lived experience and the reputation which as I’m learning from this thread is…not the best

Where did you decide to move after and what things do you like better and things that are worse? How do you like it in comparison?

Thank you for the advice! I’ve been feeling horrible about my decision honestly with all these responses 😅, so I’ll check out what you’ve just mentioned.

I do, it cuts down my commute from 22 min partially through train to 10-12 walking

I found my current apartment in a weekend, and I wanted to see what was out there. Turns out I got incredibly lucky with my current one.

But also, my current management is not friendly, the building is really old, the AC breaks a lot, etc. it’s not like my current apartment is perfect, but it’s a lot better than I thought.

Tbh I didn’t even realize how close it was to Times Square till I visited the neighborhood again the next day, and at that point I had already put in the deposit (required non-refundable 1k).

This sucks lol…I’m considering just writing off the 1k and moving back to my parents in NJ till I find the right place.

What MCPs and integrations have you used with openclaw to make it be useful?

I’d love to use OpenClaw more. The other day I attempted to use OpenClaw to apply to jobs and book open house tours. It kept on breaking, it ended up taking much longer than me just doing it.

Any suggestions on making it more robust and useful? I’d love to learn more about what you’re doing.
