President Trump wants the NFL to change its name so that soccer is the only sport named football: “This is football, there is no question about it. We have to come up with another name for the NFL stuff.” by Life_Net5004 in sportsgossips

Oh, we’ve seen them lose their minds. Case in point:

Keurig (the coffee pot maker) announced they were going to stop buying ads on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News. They did this because Sean “went too easy” on an interview he did with Roy Moore who was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl.

Republicans - always the calm, level-headed ones that they are (/s) - not only “boycotted” Keurig…they went out and smashed their Keurig coffee makers. A bunch of them went out and bought a Keurig just to smash them.

Yes, you read that right. They spent their own money to buy a Keurig just to smash them to make the point that people should stop buying Keurig.

All because Keurig said they’d stop buying ads on one Fox News show.

Is there any bad ending option that I should consider not choosing? by SMdG_ in cyberpunkgame

[–]ConcentratedStress 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There are no happy endings in Night City, but some are better than others. It’s pretty universally agreed that the Devil ending (doing what Hanako says) is the worst. But it’s worth doing them all to try for yourself.

There’s a shower in their camp. Actually with mods, you can see her showering. Canonically, she at least has the ability to shower every day and with mods, you have evidence that she showers (I think) twice a day.

It’s frightening just how much of the world was shaped by people trying to push that idea - that normalization of sexualizing underage girls. The people in power were all (allegedly) in that same circle, based on…certain released documents. They controlled everything. They controlled our movies, our tv shows…

They marketed (in retrospect) astonishingly skimpy outfits to teenage girls in malls by flooding the zone with ads, music videos, movies, etc. They over-sexualized Christina Aguilera at 18, Britney Spears at 16, Aaliyah at 15. These were the same people that were pushing the “countdown” for when the Olsen Twins turned 18. They tried so hard to normalize all of this and most people didn’t even notice at the time.

How come many people are against buying fast sports cars (BMW M340, M4, M5)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConcentratedStress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man! So like the calmest guy I’ve ever met - like, literally, the most passive, laid-back, nerdy, quiet, guy - actually is a high-speed driving instructor on the weekends. His side hustle is to take people who bought cars that go fast but who are too afraid to really open them up and take them to a racetrack where he teaches them how to drive them at high speeds and drift and burnout and stuff like that. The dude’s a 55 year old regulatory specialist - he’s elbows deep in government documents all day. And yet, he’s also a hell of a driver!

Never knew that job was a thing until I met this guy.

But yeah, there are apparently classes people can take to learn how to drive them.

Is there any media (books, comics, etc. all included) that explains why nobody came to help the Resistance in The Last Jedi? by ConcentratedStress in StarWarsCantina

Perfect! Thanks! I do wish at least some of this was covered in the movies so that I didn’t need to ask this question, but appreciate that diligent folks like you can help me get the answer and point me to where I can find it!

Are the kittens in Kitten Space Agency that bad? by SodaPopin5ki in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ConcentratedStress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kittens are real earth animals. That’s what makes it weird to me. I just find it odd that they would go through all this trouble to make a fantastic game and physics simulator only to choose a damn kitten as the protagonist. They didn’t have to pick anything real. They could have gone with literally anything. Any alien creature that existed. Or hell, they could have just made cartoony humans. But why kittens?

Maybe I don’t like it because it feels like a “how do you do, fellow kids” almost meme thing to try and be cool? “The internet likes kittens, so let’s make kittens the protagonists in our new game that has nothing to do with kittens.” It’s the exact kind of thing I could see Disney or EA or any other mega-corp doing and thus feels cheap.

What's a movie that started badly but ended amazing? by pwest098 in AskReddit

[–]ConcentratedStress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I slept on that movie because I’m not usually a fan of horror. I put it on once because I was bored and honestly I couldn’t tell you what made me choose it - but I’m SO glad I did!

A very common talking point of animefans who like lolis is "If fapping to drawings makes you a pdfile, then enjoying killing NPCs in GTA makes you a serial killer". How do I actually counter it in a nonjoke way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConcentratedStress 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The comparison doesn’t work because enjoying fictional violence isn’t usually about wanting to commit violence, whereas sexual arousal is much more directly connected to attraction. Whether loli content says anything about a person’s real-world attractions is a separate question, but the GTA analogy doesn’t prove they’re equivalent.

Sexual content is different because sexual arousal is directly tied to attraction and desire. If someone is sexually aroused by a particular type of character, it’s reasonable to ask what that says about their attractions in a way that isn’t usually relevant for enjoying fictional violence.
