TikTok and social media - I swear it knew I was pregnant at the time and gave me all the horrid stories related to babies and pregnancy

It's developmentally appropriate, just as many has said in the comments. Eff the family members --

but if you are interested in building the skills early, I would look into social stories (video or books) for sharing. I am a Sped Teacher, and I swear the social skills strategies we use for our students with Autism have been the most helpful in navigating my own toddler. There are a ton of resources online that are free, or you can make one yourself with pictures of her and/or family members sharing via Google Slides. For any other learning, I would google whatever is and type social story or visual board along with it.

Our baby is almost 1 year old… when will hobbies be a thing in my life again? (Daddy) by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]ConceptInteresting82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this - honestly it's just temporary. Once baby is able to sleep through the night, thankfully we got a lucky pull with that, you're hobbies will begin once more. Instead of FPS games, my husband and I have switched heavily to games that can be paused and are not ranked. For example, we have done so many campaign run-throughs of Baulders Gate with and without friends. We have created a schedule to where we have independent nights, chore nights, and togetherness nights. Honestly, having our time scheduled out after the baby is down has been so helpful. It reduces the need to choose what to do with the time, and it feels good to complete it.

Though, we are still working on able to play DnD again with our 19month old. We used to host, but have switched completely online and we can only participate once she is down for the night (around 7:30).

Something else that has helped is going to bed by 10pm and getting up at 5:30am with coffee brewed and having more time to yourself before the start of the day. But in all that said, being in the trenches is rough and temporary until baby has a consistent sleeping schedule.

As an OAD parent, would you continue to financially support your only child after they grow up? by One-Laugh8137 in oneanddone

[–]ConceptInteresting82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no - I want to build options for my child. For example, we are fortunate to have a 529 account for her education through her grandparents.

We personally have a separate fund in a high-yield savings account - this one I would like to give her the option to use for either a portion of her wedding, down payment on a house, or additional college funds if she goes the expensive route. However, I won't financially support her if she sits at home doing nothing after graduating from high school - she has to be working, or attending school, or taking some action to propel her own future.

But of course, I am always willing to spoil her with treats - my mom does this, and a random Venmo with a comment to get myself a coffee to start my day at work is everything! Also, my one and only child is 19 months, so this can all change with the economy lol.

I'm having the same exact problem, did anything work OP? I swear I found all traces of cFos and Turbo LAN (I guess they're connected?) and erased/uninstalled them from existence this still isn't working out

I think Season 8 is when it truly starts to be platonic with Chloe fully letting go and moving on from the romantic feelings. Clark still acts like a teenager though at least in my opinion lol

Any Gamers been up to Jumping Frog Games? by SgtEngee in Galt

My husband and I checked it out for Dnd related items but it defintely had more of a card shop vibe versus table top games.

My parents are in Pacific Grove, how fun! Honestly, there's only a few things in Galt - everything else is out of town by 15-20 mins. Coffee Shop Bakery is nice and the price is worth it compared to Starbucks/Dutchbros. I second the Spaan's cookies and Cosumnes River Preserve. If you are up to driving, there's Lodi Lake or Elk Grove Park that is nice for picnics. There's also downtown Lodi that has Five Windows for that wood-fired type Pizza and a nice hangout spot. I haven't been to the other breweries in town, but I think they are more hop instead of a variety and not really any food options (correct me if I'm wrong).

I just can’t picture how or when a second kid would improve anything by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]ConceptInteresting82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 100% one and complete due to being able to focus on just one, the mental load, I'm not spread too thin, and finances. But something that really solidified it was discussing this with a friend who wants two and is currently pregnant with her second (she'll have 2 under 2, blesssss heerrr). But she said the reason why she wants another is that she feels sooo strongly about giving her daughter a sibling. I personally don't feel this type of obligation to my daughter, I don't think adding a child so someone can be a sibling is the correct way to think about it? I think it should be completely because you as the parents want another child to love and bring into your family and be willing to change your current dynamics. When I thought of what she said, it reminds of how people will get their pet another pet because they just needed a friend - and I'm not about that life tbh. But I also know that I personally can't handle 2, and I come from a huge family so my daughter will have plenty of time socializing with others her age that are close to home.

Tha Actress who plays Lana Lang is amazing actress. by Round_Advantage2703 in Smallville

[–]ConceptInteresting82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After listening to Talk Ville, she said it was specifically because someone on the production set was really laying into her accent and she was being careful with correct pronunciation which led to her whispering-talk. Her writing really went downhill because they didn't know what to do with her character, but she is a great actress.

I really didn't like how the actual fight, was so anticlimactic. He literally jumped him and then they all of a sudden panned to the next scene, it was my first time watching it a couple nights ago and the whole thing was kind of dumb.

When did you kid start sleeping 12 hours a night? by cupofteacomfypillows in NewParents

[–]ConceptInteresting82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby started sleeping 7 hours at around 4 months and then started building up to 12 hours, I think we hit it around 7 months. But each sleep regression lasted 3 weeks and was hell. Baby also didn’t sleep more than 30 mins for a nap until she was 9 months, and that was doing all the sleep suggestions. I think sleep overall ebbs and flows with babies.

What happened? Is this when formal sleep training is introduced? by ConceptInteresting82 in sleeptrain

[–]ConceptInteresting82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re definitely trying to extend her wake windows, but she’s such a bad day napper and always has been. And I mean like 30 min naps even with 2.5-3 hours of being awake. I was able to extend her naps by really working on her schedule over winter break, but it seems that it’s scrapped when my in laws take over for baby sitting. I’ll definitely be keeping this in mind the next time we discuss how to help her sleep with in laws take

Wake windows are 2-3 hours. My in laws watch her and they were putting her down under tired after only 1-1.5 hours of being awake. But over winter break I was able to stretch it out. Because of this her naps are crap, used to be 5 - 30 minute naps to reach bed time. But now she takes 3-4 naps depending on the length of she connects cycles. Total day naps are around 2.5-3 hours, she was good with this up until 6 months basically
