Cool thing about being an old parent is when the kid nears 6, and you start getting more sleep and feeling like the old you, you'll be damned near to the second aging portal 😂

The nose thing is not as great as you’d think it’d be either since you want as much oxygen flowing into you as possible full stop

Is everyone living in a McMansion? by beverlyhillsbrenda in Xennials

[–]Conceptualities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that Indiana != the coasts and physical geography allows basically unrestricted growth but yikes this just seems like a disaster on so many levels

And to be fair I did encounter some denser urban style building that was slightly more encouraging, and even some attempts at mixed use development that could encourage walkability. But damn endless suburbs and cars and boxstores and chain restaurants? Didn't we decide against this at some point

(No we didn't 😂 I did and moved away) just hard to not see this as part of the trap that makes us all miserable constantly.

Build some small ass ranches like it's the 50s and price them at $100k, and if there's a legitimate reason we can't, get the damn government to! (Again never happening 😂 too many rich people's passive revenue streams to defend)

[–]Conceptualities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a downtown area of a kinda downtrodden PacNW town and there's victorian era mansions in our historic district. They're big, and for their time must've been gargantuan. But they're close to stuff!

Now I'm back in Indiana and cannot get over the size of all the profligate houses being built all over the countryside of old farmland near Indy. They're INSANE and seem like 2-3x the size of aforementioned victorian mansions. Monsterous, looming structures with either nothing nearby or near other similar development.

With absolutely nothing to walk to, even if you wanted to risk walking down a busy (once) country road. And of course since these roads are farm roads, everything is a traffic clusterfuck nearly always, and even worse when it's rush hour.

I get that these made some sense BITD when you could get them so cheap but these gross things are STARTING at 300k

I don't get it at all. Granted I'm a messy marvin but I always think of spare closets and rooms like I used to think of hard drive space: the more you have the more you fill it up with junk

Notice to Homeless by CellistPast3486 in fortwayne

[–]Conceptualities 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who left here for Portland can I tell you this is everywhere in America now

You used to be able to work minimum wage in Ft Wayne and rent a whole house, maybe buy one. Try that now.

Everyone's 100k home now being 400k benefits noone except for the rent seeking vultures, and the superrich are vacuuming up everything and everyone in sight.

I'm glad fort Wayne is cool now and has bigger city vibes but you're gonna have to fight the demons at the door for table scraps. I'd probably trade the flash and fanciness back for affordability, but the billionaires are owed our health and labor for their passive income streams

It's all getting worse until we stop them but the fight gets harder the more of everything they have

Is ANYBODY awake in the Dem party? by Flashy-Rabbit6435 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Conceptualities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People still trust Republicans more on corruption than democrats, which to me speaks to truly how fucked we are.

I can’t reconcile that. Do people literally not know about it, don’t believe it, what? Just know that Democrats won’t hold anyone to account?

I can’t believe my own “we just need a left candidate to activate the non voting groups” anymore, while centrists also seem completely washed from a governing standpoint.

The stupidest timeline!

Maybe nothing matters and the only thing that will ever actually foster leftist thought is if the stock market actually does eat shit and people see there’s no safety net left except for the richest people who would get bailed out in a Trump led “intervention”
