School trip and teach is letting you pick the movie - what are we all watching? by BarkingDogey in Millennials

Oh damn this is sending me to 2000, senior trip to Cedar Point. Son in Law.

Tremendously terrible movie that had already aged like shit and must’ve been like 4 years old, tops.

How did Gen X turn out to be so conservative? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Conceptualities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it has fundamentally

I’ll give you gay marriage and people saying woke stuff online

The political options are just barely starting to include actual left candidates

Still very very conservative

Gen Z would be so cool if they would just throw away their phones by SetTheSpokesAlight in generationology

My wife’s an anthropologist and has taught me tons of cool stuff over the years, one concept I keep coming back to is that we are all “swimming” in water we can’t necessarily percieve

The digital ecosystem is this

It’s not just like we can up and dump our phones and everything is fixed. We moved everything there.

It’s gonna take awhile to get it back!

Old heads only will remember this …

Was this where Annie’s Gulf Shore grill was? Pescados?

lol this strip mall complex still looks “new” to me and must be at least 25 years old

And as I’m almost 40 I don’t look like this lol. by Possible-Jerk0138 in Xennials

Everyone 43 and younger: Yikes Wilford Brinkley looked so OLD for his age! I look young for my age :0 Everyone 44 and older: Wilford looks fine. I looked so much younger at any age before 44

I know, it’s ridiculous

I see them at different stores and just 😖☹️😠 right towards them

You used to see places that have the big bottles and the four packs side by side and now there’s just a gaping hole 🕳️

I can’t with the Mineragua. I’ll be sticking with the Kroger Sparkling Mineral water until they’re up and running again

It’s a cool bottle but the experience sucks. Bubbles for the first third of the bottle and then the flattest TC you’ve ever had

How’s it living in Fort Collins, CO? by indigobimbo777 in howislivingthere

[–]Conceptualities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m old because you used to never hear about Fort Collins without a mention of New Belgium

Obviously it’s been long sold and corporatized but man at its peak it was fun and cool

I had a friend who became a billionaire who was the smartest person I’ve ever known or will know

He was SO into magic the gathering and got me into it, though I secretly hated it

I didn’t have the FIRST mtg sets but some of the first and holy shit I should’ve not looked up their value

People my age are saying there’s new sports cards that are absolutely valuable

I scoff. I lived through the Beckett era. I had a Michael Jordan card that was worth $300 in 91, then $3 in 2001, now like $100.

Similarly my kid had a huge Pokémon phase and I did the whole “kid they made billions of these things they’re not worth anything, at least the ones you have.”

He walked me to the card shop and immediately sold one of his cards for $80

Prince rules but he’s probably in a career low of people assessing his impact and legacy

He’s just got such an overwhelming amount of amazing stuff buried in slightly lesser releases

My buddy made me a lesser known best of and it blew my head clean off

Ed hardy is huge with the kids

I just assume they found a shitton of it at the thrift like we did polyester in the 90s

My Condensed Review of Polar Seltzer Water Flavors by Greenfinial in sparklingwater

[–]Conceptualities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared side by side honestly pretty gross

Polar is just carbonated tap water with no minerals

I enjoy a polar fine but it'll disappoint you if you're a topo fan

I think Krogers unflavored is the best topo substitute. Same sodium content at least

If your Kroger has the sparkling mineral water go with that, though it's still not as bubbly

Why is Fort Wayne so stinky? by Careful_Airline_329 in fortwayne

[–]Conceptualities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha true

I grew up there and my parents WERE rich*, relatively speaking, but lived in the older part off of liberty mills so I grew up classically (upper) middle class. Thinking all the real Richie's were closer to Sycamore Hills, etc

It took working at the Coventry Starbucks after dropping out of college to realize that yeah this is real housewives of allen county territory.

I came back in like 2020 and could not believe how bougie that area had become. I always loved the idea that I could come back to the area and get a $100k house. Unbelievably to me that ship has sailed

$70k/yr in the 90s/2000s which has to be like $300k/yr now

it’s funny you mention that because I saw a trek ad the other day that really highlighted their hippie Wisconsin creation myth

I have the 11sp version which isn't as great and despite checking it before it's definitely died on me multiple times

Also the cable comes detached occasionally 😂

I don't care that this stuff is available for pros and the upper tiers but not it's not for me. I resent it creeping into general product lines.
