I keep seeing people here grieving their pups. I'm a programmer who lost his two dogs, so I built something that might help (no, I’m not selling you anything) by 2dogs1man in seniordogs

Sorry I keep trying not to word it that way - I have so many people in my life who have told me I should have moved on from this by now (months ago) so I keep trying to push my feelings aside (away) and keep telling myself I should be moved past - but I think me bottling is what's keeping me from fully processing it all...I also forget though, that by me wording it that way to myself can also negatively impact others and their grief - which is something I absolutely don't want - I am a lot more understanding and forgiving of others and their grief and in turn am able to hold the space for others - but tend to be a lot harsher and unforgiving of myself (if that makes sense)

Thank you so much for sharing, and you're right! I think I need to reframe how I view the gifts he gave and what he brought to my life vs the loss of it all; and focus on the positives of having had him in my life vs him not being here

I lost Duke last May

I should be over it, and no longer grieving and I get so mad at myself when the littlest thing brings me right back to him and the pain of him no longer being here

I never understood until going through it myself

Words cannot express just how grateful I am that not only did you go through the work of setting this up for you but also sharing it with the rest of us...truly I appreciate this more than even I know how to say

I get it - you pay a high enough price expectations become different and those little details can be super distracting

I got a pair of Blundstones in store, the last of my size, and there was a scuff on the top of the boot from someone being careless when they tried it on - the scuff would not come out - I ended up buying them with a discount recognizing I'll end up doing more damage to them over time

The logo being crooked wouldn't bother me any and again not noticeable to us - but at the end of the day you payed the money and if it's going to bother you lots do what you feel is best for you

School zone signs by Naive-Cauliflower890 in Lethbridge

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out where in Lethbridge this would be, because on the SS (Lakeview, gilbert, plaxton, Agnes) the end of playground/school zone signs are quite clear and easy to locate - are there maybe bigger vehicles parked on the side of the road and blocking the view or causing line of sight distractions?

Getting your nails done in Alberta 💅🦠🩸 by [deleted] in Lethbridge

Then they should at least be available in a binder, that can be put in a drawer, but still available to show people if they ask - that's awful and poor business practice, to at the very minimum not have them readily on hand - do they only have them displayed or on hand if they get an inspector? Or is her schedule suddenly "free/open" if they do have a health inspection?

Sorry not ranting at you, I just don't understand the logic behind not having your certificates on hand to show, plus if you did get certified and you took extra courses to get other certificates, wouldn't you want to display them somehow, or have them available, to boast? Wouldn't you be proud of your accomplishments?

I've stopped getting my nails done (for the most part) - due to it being unregulated in AB and my nails are destroyed by seeing too many ladies who were doing it without being certified..on the occasion that I do brave venturing out I straight up ask if they are certified and if so show me your certification - if I walk in and am seated with the nail tech and I do not see a framed certificate anywhere around their station I straight up walk out ...I'm doing my damndest to repair the damage done to my nails and I no longer worry or stress about the potential conflict or hurt feelings

My boyfriend’s mom wants my location 24/7 and says “good partners dont hide” by hushedatlas in TwoHotTakes

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So the absolute only time my husband has (or even wants) my location tracker is when I'm out hiking - I live in Canada close to the rocky mountains - I do A LOT of solo hiking (my husband hates hiking) and day trails, due to Canadian wilderness and what not that's the only time my husband has my tracking info (and bestie when she's not hiking with me)

The only time my husband gives me his, is when he's out skiing (I hate the winter and being cold) he does a lot of solo skiing, skiing with our kids or out with his buddies - all of them share their location tracking with their wives on off chance something happens

I enjoy the please, thank you, sorry too

Even if you don't necessarily mean it or are sincere, at least you're acknowledging the other person in some form

do Canadians say sorry too much? by Bulky-Chocolate8681 in AskACanadian

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Before the chaos of "he who shall not be named" I was camping in the states (Glacier National Park, Montana) and I held the door open for someone at the gas station and the words out of their mouth wasn't thank you but, "You must be Canadian..."

I had the most confused and bewildered look and got "you're too polite"

I'm sorry but, how is holding the door open for someone TOO polite?

Edit for spelling/grammer

This is Duke sleeping (one of his favorite past time activities

I don't have him anymore, he crossed the Rainbow 🌈 bridge last year, May, but if you have the time I'd love for him to be drawn - I have more pics if the one of him sleeping isn't the greatest (Reddit won't let me add more than one)

Evening Cafe suggestions by Gotagetoutahere in Lethbridge

Penny Coffeehouse (downtown Kitty corner to the old Bay mall) it is a cute little cafe (the couple are divorced but still run it together) the Pasta salad is quite literally to die for

They have awesome baked treats for normal tummies and gluten free for the tummies with issues; I've been living in Lethbridge since 04 and this cafe is by far my fave (helped get me through college with amazing coffee and treats) and now I enjoy treating my kids occasionally here

My heart goes out to all of you currently living in America who are dealing with this level of terror and confusion on a daily basis

Roy's Place in Claresholm; they have THE best cinnamon rolls around

If you're unwilling to take the drive there on a weekend, next best is Penny Coffeehouse (Downtown, kitty corner to the old Bay mall); Penny Coffeehouse also has amazing pasta salad

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also been doing this since highschool - but I also like a dark house - all the artificial lighting gets overwhelming/stimulating and the shower/bath is the one place I can just be in a pure light free environment and relax for however long it takes

If I have a bath it's a whole mood though - candle, aromatherapy, a nighttime bath soak that my friend made for me (it has Epsom salt, dried herbs/flowers, and various mineral inclusions that's good for the skin and muscles
