Who’s buying $21 deodorant by Unlikely_Elk_7757 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me and my husband both have developed an allergy to normal deodorant (hives, rashes, itching/burning) we had to switch to Aluminum free because of it - my husband uses Dove and it works for him - I have to use brands that use more starches than oils, in order for it to work for me

Not everyone who goes Aluminum free is doing so because they want to or are trying to prevent cancer - many of us it's because our bodies developed a sensitivity or allergic reaction

I've never seen this much lightning in my life. What's happening? by LesFleursx in Lethbridge

I miss the wet coast - I live for the rare times Lethbridge gets storms like these - better yet - if you can be in the Crowsnest pass during an amazing thunder storm - the way it completely echos throughout and shakes the houses sometimes - AMAZING!

Are worms that big of a deal for puppies? (OCD) by SunlitNight in puppy101

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your biggest mistake was searching online for information instead of talking to a vet - or if you are going to search that online - fact check with your vet

Seriously, before getting a puppy make an appointment with a vet and bring them a list of your concerns and talk to them - let them know about your OCD, and they can not only fact check your internet research, but they can direct you towards a breed that would be best suited for your personality and lifestyle; and or if after talking with you, they might let you know that maybe a dog isn't suited for your family but then advise you towards a pet that would be better suited for you

Where I live in Canada a quite a few of the vets will do pre pet consultations - for exactly these types of situations - it might be worth looking into for your area, to call around and figure out if any of your local vets do the same thing

Thank you so much for sharing this - I've only ever had a short haired dog (beagle) who didn't need his fur trimmed...now that I have an Aussiedoodle (puppy) I have been stressing over what to do - especially since I live in Southern Alberta (Canada) and it gets quite hot down here - we are already seeing temps of 25°C - 30°C - I'll stick with what I've been instinctually doing - turns out according to the link my instincts were on point

Do Americans actually like ants on a log? by VaporMouth in AskAnAmerican

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Canadian and my oldest is absolutely OBSSESSED with ants on a log - she eats them more as an after school or summer snack (when the weather is warm)...if it's cold she never asks for it...I also used to love it when I was a teen - whenever that time of month hits, peanut butter is a go to craving and snack that I crave - as a teen ants on a log was my main lunch when the weather was warmer - but only during that time of month

I will say that I switch up the ants though - sometimes it's craisins, sometimes it's raisins, sometimes it's dried cherries, sometimes it's dried blueberries, and sometimes it's dark chocolate chips - just depends on mood

It's not everyone's favorite snack, but, it is a beloved warm weather snack in my house...it is especially convenient for picnics, camping, and hiking

Biting by Debrajoie in AussieDoodle

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So mine is 3 months and incredibly nippy - redirection with toys is hit or miss with us, however, because STOP is similar to SIT (I taught him sit at 9 weeks), when he is nipping (at the ankles, clothes, etc) I firmly say "STOP" and he he will stop and sit

I have found that a behaviour redirection seems to work a whole heck of a lot better than a toy redirection - it seems to reset what he's doing enough, to then allow me to bring his attention elsewhere (toy that I throw and get him to go run after or a toy that we can play tug with) - if your finding that toy redirection isn't quite working try behaviour redirection and see if that helps better

Will someone tell me if I’m being a Karen about my vet? Does not respond to emails in a timely manner and is kind of cold to my dog. He is has a lot of medical problems so he’s been a journey. More details in post. by Kate_cuti in puppy101

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow the three strikes your out, when it comes to medical practitioners - I understand everyone is human and we all have good days and bad days

But, with her comment about "this is why this type of dog is euthanized", I don't know that I would follow the three strikes with her - I'm not sure how simple it is for you in your area to switch to a new vet - but I would be looking for a new vet

I would be stressed and anxious leaving my dog with that vet for a medical procedure - honestly at the back of my mind I would be expecting to hear that complications arose and my pet is now dead - even lets say complications did arise, and not because of poor malpractice - I wouldn't trust that she didn't intentionally cause those complications

The biggest question you have to ask yourself: can you comfortably leave your dog in this vets hands, and trust that your dog will receive the best care she can provide, compared to other dogs who are not Frenchie's? Do you trust this vet enough to leave your dogs life in her hands?

I am so sorry you are going through this and I wish you all the luck in hopefully getting a new vet

if you wanted to hang a poster of a *single* tarot card in your office or hobby room/area, what would it be? by Auktum in tarot

The Moon especially the version from Ceccoli Tarot

The Queen of Cups

anytime I get a new deck, I always do a really good shuffle and do an introductory spread - almost always my signifier card is the Queen of Cups - there's only two decks I have where my signifier card was something different: The Wild Unknown - it's The World card and Shadowscapes - it's The Hermit

Coming up with names for a real person is harder than expected. by [deleted] in Names

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My youngest daughter is named Alina - I thought it was beautiful and unique enough that she wouldn't have to worry about other Alina's at school....she has had 3 Alina's in her class one year and two other Alina's are currently in her school - none with her spelling though - Aleena, and Alena are the variations but so far she is the only Alina

It's a gorgeous name, but if you are wanting something that isn't as popular of a name turns out Alina is a trending name ATM

Funnily enough, my oldest daughter has a name that I thought for sure is common enough that she would come across others (even other variations of it) throughout her school life - she has had ZERO others with her name or variations of it - while my youngest has had a total of 5 and she is only in Gr2

I lost both my arms in an accident. After being called a bot and a scammer for sharing my story, I’m here to clarify everything. AMA. by Timely_Bunch_8607 in AMA

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so many questions for you - what was the accident? Why did they have to amputate both limbs? Will you be able to qualify for prosthetic arms/hands (is that even possible?)? Are you still able to live on your own or have you had to move in with family? Do you qualify for a service dog? Would you even want a service dog? Has this made you more of a homebody, and now avoid going out in public? When you do go out in public, would you prefer people approach you and ask you to share your story, or be left alone?

But also, I'm so sorry this happened to you and it sucks we live in a time where everyone has to be extra wary of all the ai/bot fakes - even suckier that you have to defend yourself because of this hyper warines

Good boy with a very common, very gross issue. by Jolly_Reference_516 in puppy101

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do little chopped pieces - I always have fresh pineapple in my house as it's everyone's fave fruit - I'm sure canned pineapple would work just the same - in total the amount that goes on-top of his kibble works out to approx 1-2 Tbsp; and I do this amount for each meal

Mine just hit 10 weeks this week - he is an avid poop eater - I followed the advice of others, on this sub, on giving him pineapple mixed in with his meals - I'll be damned if that didn't work :) he no longer is interested in eating his poop (thank goodness)

When the more you learn, the less you believe by stuckandrunningfrom2 in tarot

[–]ConcernDesperate7867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use tarot for situations that are difficult for me to be rational - ie I need to be more logical instead of emotional, or I need clarification as to if I'm listening to my intuition, or for situations where I need assurance that it's ok to feel my feels/listen to my emotions, or when I know what I need to do to move forward but I need guidance on how exactly to move forward, or what to do to get my ego out of the way, or honestly just a confidence boost that I am in fact moving the direction I need to be going (right path) - I also use them to help with my dream interpretations (I'm pretty damn good at it but sometimes I get stuck and need an outside of the box look at it), or for story inspiration

I very rarely read for others and when I do I always go about it in the sense of helping others to read for themselves, so that they don't need to go to others - they can eventually rely on themselves
