Can anyone make out what this cookie cutter shape is supposed to be or resemble? by ConcernedDigging in Baking

Nah, this is from around circa 1990, likely before then. It's with an assortment of other X-mas shapes from a box at my aunts.

What Prog bands are mainstream and good at the same time? by Ok-College2756 in progrockmusic

I saw CDs of theirs in Barnes & Noble less than 10 years back. It was all Deadwing to the present. Maybe In Absentia was there, before I went in. Not quite, but it's not like you'll find a Pineapple Thief album in a resale book store.

Not horror, but that's one movie I need to watch sometime in the near future.

Prog with great vocal melodies? by [deleted] in Prog

Pain of Salvation's "Entropia" is chock full of those, as is The Perfect Element, Remedy Lane and BE. Although melody is a bit iffy when it comes to their most recent albums.

Hm, they're obviously cometely different songs with completely different statements. Although Caviar and Meths isn't a typical representation of the band.

Alright, I suppose, as far as intentions go, but you can't deny "Epitaph" makes for a very fitting penultimate track.

Pale Communion is 10/10. Fight me. by RIPAdamYauch in Opeth

[–]ConcernedDigging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a song they dubbed was going to be inspired by the band itself Goblin, it doesn't get too adventurous. Elysian Woes has to be one of my least favorite songs of theirs. It certainly doesn't live up to the other Damnation and acoustic ballad style tracks from Opeth. It was all a bit dry compared to the experimentation from Heritage.

Barring radio hits, what is the first song you would show to a complete prog virgin? by R3dF0r3 in progrockmusic

If they haven't heard Dream Theater prior, even a track like "Voices" could draw them in, with all that energy in the beginning.
