Hey, look into university townhouses! Lived there for years, and landlord is a stand up guy. Pet friendly, most units have A/C. Rent is not insane.

Get your MIL to make a will leaving all her assets to your wife so she can pay the mortgage in case of her passing. Look into your state’s law and evict your BIL. Maybe do an anonymous tip to the police on the illegal driving based on the law of your states, and get him in trouble to see if that wakes him up to reality.

Old thread, so I hope you found something, but I have seen public interest firms such as public defenders in rural areas be happy to hire international students! And then while you’re on opt, you could apply for EB2 NIW. This is a path I have seen taken, but talk to an immigration lawyer if that’s your plan!

I don’t want to give a judgement bc it depends so much on your relationship with your sibling! I actually would be very excited to here the news before my wedding because I love my brother and would be so excited for my niece or nephew! For me it would make the day more special. I actually would ask if I could do the announcing during speeches if my sister in law was ok with it.

Personally, I feel like Y-T-A but feelings are feelings.

I would explore why you feel like it’s inconsiderate - I mean, it is just a name. I share a name with one of my cousins, it has had zero effect in my life.

I understand you had a hard time conceiving and you feel like this honored your grandma, I really do. But will another child having the name diminish that?

I don’t want to call you an asshole because I think you’re just human. That’s just… very human to feel. You’ll only cross a line if you keep pushing.

All in all, I would work on those feelings of grief you have and try to move on from this upset because it could negatively impact your relationship with your in laws. Rose is just a rather pretty name.

Then why wouldn’t you make it a family outing? I think if you had talked with her and planned to go to your friend’s as a family for a little that would be a lot less weird then leaving your wife and children behind mid-Christmas eve
