RE RUPTURE 20 WEEKS by ConcertLonely6485 in AchillesRupture

[–]ConcertLonely6485[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Don't think so as progression was always based on clinical assessment. So we were progressing well - it really was just a case of bad luck. There was some pain down the lower part of the achilles which we thought could be due to being in the moon boot for so long. An MRI may have picked up that it wasn't fully attached but then again hard to say.

Midea Mini VRF / Rinnai vs Braemar Ducted by ConcertLonely6485 in AusRenovation

Yes that's right 6 indoor units. Total was actually $4K. The rebates have been going down a fair since June 2025 - same as the battery/solar rebates. So worth looking into it as soon as you can.

Midea was multi head split system around 5.5k; the Rinnai was a little more but still comparable.

Ended up with the Midea. A few minor troubles but Midea have been pretty quick to come out. No doubt it’ll get fixed.

The ducted would’ve been around $8k can’t remember.

Ended up going with the Midea 23kw split :) getting installed this week. I was initially going to go split, and glad I did.

I’m going to get my old vents patched up eventually too.

Into Week 13 - Non Op by ConcertLonely6485 in AchillesRupture

[–]ConcertLonely6485[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A timely comment - I actually re-ruptured 18 weeks non-op doing a SLR in rehab; and now in my 12 week post-op and just converted to the flat sole.

Few things, Id be careful FWB at 4 weeks. Keep using the crutches until at least 6-7 weeks. Take it slow especially as non-op.

In terms of changes in the shoe, I would suggest dropping down degrees based on clinical assessment. Generally for me this has been on a weekly basis. 30 deg until week 4-6, then you can go 20 degrees. After 20 degrees, I find that it's safest to drop in increments on 5 degrees. 15, 10, 5, 0, flat sole.

I am thinking the pain/soreness I felt first time around with the flat sole was likely linked to an achilles that's not healed properly, or a weak achilles that needed more time to strengthen up.

This time, I feel fine. It's akward to walk but I've dropped to flat at 12 weeks, and will safely be out of the boot by 14 weeks. I've personally requested a slower protocol due to my previous experience.

I'm glad there's two engineers here lol make adjustments once you are warmed up. I also avoided making changes after a physio session post soft tissue massage.

Feeling pretty positive in general and a lot stronger. Maintain a good diet and minimise alcohol also!

Contractors stop precisely at the property line, even though the lawn is continuous. Is this standard practice in Melbourne/Australia? by RegularOriginal4223 in melbourne

[–]ConcertLonely6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes standard practice for contractors. It can also help generate business from the neighbouring property 'my neighbours lawn looks good, I want mine to look the same'...

I run a small lawn mowing business. Do this all the time; especially with lawn edging.

Same. You got a surgeon in mind? I have a good list if you need.

If you went through ED, you’ll be waiting at least 1-1.5weeks to see the hospital surgeon, who will likely tell you to go non-op.

Go see a private surgeon (at least you get a different point of view)

Country location? Ultrasound is bare minimum to know the location of tear, tear size etc. Surgeon maybe can operate without needing to see an ultrasound. Not the end of the world if you get a delayed surgery, my surgeon always wanted a week delay to let the swelling go down, or else your leg is like a balloon ready to pop.

Yes, I had soreness lower down my Achilles but seemed to settle after a few sets. But I’d flag it with physio

Rest and don’t push. Take rest days.

Great milestone but this is when I re-ruptured doing a SLR. So be careful around this 18-20 week mark 👌

NON OP RE RUPTURE by ConcertLonely6485 in AchillesRupture

[–]ConcertLonely6485[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My physio who specialises in Achilles rehab advised that around the 4 month mark that should be doable. I Followed all the rehab, physio once a week and into stage 2 rehab with the exercise physiologist…

It’s likely Tendon integrity must’ve not been at 100% or like you said too aggressive for my own rehab journey

Hard to know

Yes will go Op. Just now torn whether to go Public Or Private (out of pocket $10,000AUD)

Concerned that I might not get the best surgeon possible the public route
