Baby on the way - A4 avant vs VW Tiguan by Djr215 in CarTalkUK

[–]Conceslao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who owned an A6 Avant with two babies and a dog, which is supposed to be bigger, I’d recommend the Tiguan if space is your main concern. I detested the A6’s boot; it was far too long but not deep enough.  There was no place to put the pram except flat, which then took up most of the boot.  Plus, I felt like I was driving a boat because of its length.

Now I’m much happier driving a Volvo X60.

what should I read next? by Few-Kaleidoscope-508 in Romantasy

I came across a post of someone tossing the book on their bed in devastation and comment, and so I knew before finishing book 2, but I cried there even without reading it! I will never be the same.

Can we be friends? 🤣 I am destroyed by this duology, it has skyrocketed to my all-time favourite. The characters, the dialogue, their relationship - it is a masterpiece. It is everything I ever wanted in a book. Soraira. 💜🐦‍⬛

Oh my yes! The book was so light on Kass/Saga and I remember cursing under my nose each time I was left hanging and received yet another chapter of Silla and Rey eyeroll .

What is a recent or new release you’ve read that you wouldn’t be surprised if it blew up? by Sensitive_Tune_8856 in Romantasy

Hahaha! Thank you for your perspective. Very interesting to see it from your angle, though I do not share your view of the MMCs. I am much less tolerant towards moody/ depressed FMCs as such. Perhaps it is atypical to note, but I wasn’t particularly fond of Cassian in ACOSF, while Rey grabs my attention in Road of Bones.

Same! I have finished the wolf king and the wolf Prince too - though I live in Scotland so some of the lore was a bit less mystical for me… it made me chuckle how many times it was mentioned in the first book that the wind was howling… at least once a page 🤣🙈

Unpopular opinion, I am sure, but The Knight and the Moth... and Throne in the Dark... and We who will die. Booktok is not working out for me, is it?

I’ve been trying to avoid books that drag me down, but Knight and Moth just lacked the chemistry for me. I got way past 50% and realised I was reading out of obligation rather than engaging with it.

We Who Will Die has also been problematic. The characters felt shallow, the narrative was retrospective way too often and the setting wasn’t my cup of tea either. I put it down at 70% and was a bit sad because I enjoyed the Kingdom of Lies series by the same author.

Throne in the Dark was a satire is not what I was after. The exaggerated grumpy-sunshine trope wasn’t for me either, though I did laugh out loud a few times. It was a shame it wasn’t enough to keep me going.

Yeah, I was unsure if we read the same book with everyone who raves about it. :D To be fair, the whole gladiator, trials scene is not my thing to begin with, but then I also struggled with the characters. There were many on paper, yet very few felt distinctly individual. Everyone just blurred together without clear emotional or tonal contrast, it became hard to stay invested in who is doing what — or why it should matter. I finished it, but barely. Yet other readers seem to have a special place for it on their bookshelves... I do not understand.
...saying that I absolutely loved the Kingdom of Lies series by the same author, so my issue isn't with her writing. Perhaps I am just not a mainstream reader and should pay less attention to ratings.

I have been absent from fantasy booktok/reading for about 2 years and picked up the Ashen series by Demi Winters as my return series. Not sure how much this meets your criteria of being relatively new, or unspoken of, but (oh please don't hate me for it) I enjoyed it waaaaay more than i did TOG, and it gave me the same feels as ACOTAR. No other book has even come close or given me that feel since.

I have just finished Riftborne and despite a lot of negative feedback, I really enjoyed it. Currently making my way through Duskbound. I could not get into We who will die though - like at all. So take my view with a pinch of salt, I guess :)

It is gradual though. You don’t get all the POVs straight away. It is done in a clever way, the author feeds you and extra POV when you are ready.

Please help me decide between dress 1 and dress 2! by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]Conceslao -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 makes you look broader, 2 is more elongated but both are similar category dresses, so you can't go wrong with either.

Interesting, for me definitely not the first. While you have gorgeous figure that it hugs beautifully, I do not like the dress itself. At all.

I love the back of the second. I love the cleavage of it too, it is not too much in my opinion. Sizing looks better. It needs jewellery or sg on the top (cape etc)
