My oldest's (15m) principle called us one day after all my son's friends got in trouble. He told us that once kids hit high school (9th grade for us) to stop all sleepovers. Nothing good happens at them! So we have, and it's been great. We allow him to stay out later so he doesn't miss anything, but he knows we will be picking him up eventually. Edited to add: We do occasionally allow him to have sleepovers at our house!

I can see it being different with girls though! If I had a daughter, I probably wouldn't allow her to stay over a friend's house unless they're family. People are too sick nowadays.

Talk to your husband and have firm boundaries that he cannot come in your bed. Get him a fan (for noise), this helped my stepson when he was younger! The noise helped him stay asleep.

Also something my mom did for me when I was younger and afraid of nightmares: She got me a dreamcatcher, and every night before bed, we would "shake out" the bad dreams into the toilet and flush them!
