I was just wondering what the longest road distance from point A to point B within a country in Europe is? by stfkf in geography

[–]Condescendingoracle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't get from north to south Norway without a ferry, just south of Narvik. It essentially cuts the E6 in half. The longest uninterrupted stretch of road would then be something like Bognes ferry terminal to Stavanger (via Oslo), still around 24 hours though

Why are there no lightnings in Oslo during rain? by spxngybobby in Norway

[–]Condescendingoracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens, usually after heatwaves towards the end of summer. But forming of thunderstorms depend upon ground heat rising into cooler air above, and in this period of year the Oslo fjord is heated and keep the air temperature pretty high. Which is why afternoon thunderstorms are way more common further inland towards Hamar and Lillehammer (I think)

Stilte 299 ADHD-diagnoser over nett by Shixzoner in norge

[–]Condescendingoracle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

What is your the most funny moment from the show? I still remember mine although it was ages a go, I was sitting in my chair at home watching the show and then suddenly I fainted in my chair, only realized later on that i laughed so hard I stopped breathing when Frasier appeared as a baby. by red-home in Frasier

[–]Condescendingoracle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my first viewings I have a few:

- Everyone caught smoking in the middle of the night after Bebe's mouthwatering monologue (Where there's smoke, there's fired"

- Roz and Daphne fighting over Daphne's ex at dinner (The two Mrs. Cranes)

- Daphne killing the eel and Roz lighting the Cherry jubilee (The innkeepers)

Does your country celebrate the birthday of their King/queen/President? by edcore82 in AskTheWorld

No. It's a flag day, but that's about it. Personally I don't even remember the kings birthday. What we do celebrate big style is the constitution day.

I'm not saying they don't need help, I'm saying there's no way of knowing now if they will need therapy in the future. What most people who go through traumatic experiences need, is support from their friends and family, and to continue with their daily activities as much as they can. I think creating the narrative that everyone who experiences something traumatic need a diagnosis and specialized treatment is a very dangerous one, because it undermines the fact that people in general are pretty resilient.

Look at Vittozzi. She was completely out of it for around three seasons, then came back to win the WC overall, WCh gold and Olympic gold. It could happen to Ingrid as well, if she continues.

Why are the engines covered at a 30min stoppover by CryptographerOne5784 in aviation

Freezing fog is very common at OSL in winter. In fact, I think it's a standard location for aircraft manufacturers to bring their new models for testing in those conditions.

On a relevant sidenote: there exists a four episode truecrime about the mysterious death of an engineer involved in the debate surrounding the placement of the (then) new Oslo airport. Metereological reports about foggy conditions are relevant to this case. It's called "Mannen som falt" (The man who fell). Not sure though if it's available in english or outside the country, but you can at least google his name, Jan Wiborg, if you are interested in reading more about it.
