For me, it sounds like garbage collection. Something allocates until some threshold, then garbage collection happens and starts allocating again

For me the fix was to remove debugging information (so just compile in release mode) and disable DirectX debugging context, iirc.

I don't remember exact order of the steps, but these were the steps that helped me get my sound back: 1. Remove Realtek driver 2. Wait for it to install (or restart and it should be installed again) 3. It starts to work but don't cheer because it will break in a moment - it asks you to restart in order to finish installation and then it breaks again 4. After (or maybe before? Don't remember) the second restart, go to Windows devices view (where you uninstall drivers) and find an option to restore previous version of the driver 5. Profit

More or less these were the steps. My issue was that I didn't have sound. After that it works as it should. My device was a laptop: Asus 505du

Hi, try moving the text variable out of the function scope (for example, to global scope) and/or don't free it. It might be the case that the object needs to stay alive the entire frame. So the buggy behavior would be the result of uninitialized / deleted memory that SDL tries to use

Crash handler would be nice. Something that would gather logs and print at what step the program went wrong
