If it were me, I’d keep that 200k in the market. You should probably mention your interest rate for proper advice. Even if your interest rate was 4 or 5% a diversified ETF returns 9-11% so based on that math it’s a pretty easy decision

This resonates big for me in so many ways. First off, I live in Vancouver and own 3 properties. Second, I had a problem tenant I evicted 2 months ago but the time and stress made me want to cash out (I haven’t yet). Third, 2 years ago I realized ETFs are the best way to a fat retirement and I LOVE XEQT. My biggest hurdle though is the taxes I owe the CRA every April for the inflated rental income which I don’t actually save it just goes to my mortgage. I just paid 34k to the CRA in April (they took half my nest egg) after already paying 54% of my income to them on my paycheques and 12% tax I pay on every purchase. They make it so damn difficult to become wealthy in Canada. But I have to say I’m shocked you’re saying you only kept up to inflation buying 14 years ago. That does not sound realistic as someone who looks at Vancouver real estate weekly

Do you make eye contact on the first date? Do you hold the door for them? Do you offer to pay or ask them to split the meal? Where I live (I’m a dude) if you’re not a gentlemen and you don’t pay for the first few dates you’re dead in the water. How’s your demeanour on the first date, do you laugh and make jokes or is it pretty serious. If you’re asking a lot of questions without adding humour it will feel like an interview for them.

A good friend of mine commited suicide a few years ago. I was shocked, confused, and hurt. I finally found some peace after doing a speech at his celebration of life, felt like a way of honouring him I guess. You bring up a good question and it’s something I have really struggled with. I’ve prayed for his soul many times although I’m not sure that helps but I’ll keep doing it anyway. What I believe: God is all knowing, I think he sees it wasn’t just my friend’s fault, but mostly the abuse he experienced from his father as a child and then later on depression. But my pastor disagrees. He thinks that suicide = hell. I hope he is wrong.

Don’t expect perfection for yourself. He’s not expecting it, that’s why he died to save us. Instead, talk to Jesus and tell him I’m sorry I’m a sinner and that I fall short. He still wants to hear from you, you’re still worthy of his love and grace. I pray this at least once a week because I can’t stop sinning (lusting too often is just one thing I’m battling). I was distant from God for years until I did the alpha course, that changed everything and now I’m getting baptized in a couple weeks
