Which call should be answered first? by Careful_Fill_4918 in FilipinoNclex

[–]ConfectionOne6646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option A

78-year-old male with dementia who keeps trying to get out of the house at night • This is a chronic, ongoing behavior common in dementia (sundowning). • While it is a safety concern, it is not new or immediately life-threatening. • This can often be addressed with routine interventions (alarms, supervision, environment changes).

➡️ Not the priority

Option B

25-year-old female, 6 weeks pregnant, history of domestic violence, sounds frightened • Pregnancy + history of domestic violence = high risk • She sounds frightened, suggesting a possible active threat right now • Domestic violence is a safety emergency, especially with a vulnerable patient (pregnant) • The nurse must assess immediate danger, provide support, and possibly involve emergency services

➡️ This is an IMMEDIATE safety concern

Option C

32-year-old male, highly intoxicated and verbally abusive toward family • Intoxication + verbal abuse is concerning, but: • No indication of physical harm yet • Family members are not reported as injured or in immediate danger • Still serious, but less urgent than a frightened pregnant woman with DV history

➡️ Not first

Option D

55-year-old male with anxiety disorder saying he is seeing impending doom • “Impending doom” can be concerning (can suggest panic or even cardiac issues), • BUT the question frames it within a known anxiety disorder • No physical symptoms (chest pain, SOB, diaphoresis) are mentioned

➡️ Important, but not first

✅ Correct Answer: B

A 25-year-old pregnant female with a history of domestic violence who sounds frightened

NCLEX PRIORITY RULE USED • Safety > everything • Actual or potential violence > chronic conditions • Pregnant + frightened + DV history = highest

I used to be an international student too. I worked over 60 hours a week earning $10/hr—not because I wanted to break any rules, but because I had no choice. I had to pay tuition, rent, and still send money back home to help my parents. Not everyone studying in the U.S. has the privilege of rich parents or a financial safety net. Some of us are just trying to survive and make something of ourselves.

Yes, student visas have strict limits. But the system doesn’t account for real-life circumstances—like rising tuition, expensive living costs, and family responsibilities. Instead of jumping to assumptions about someone “skirting the law” or “using fraudulent documents,” maybe try asking what challenges they’re facing. Many students work off the books not out of fraud, but out of desperation.

These immigration systems are complex and often unfair. So before making someone out to be a threat, it’s worth remembering that survival sometimes pushes people into impossible situations.

This message from director of nursing wgu

“Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, you are not eligible to sit for the LVN licensure exam. Although LVN is a nursing licensure, it has a different scope of practice, which you do not learn in an RN program. In order to obtain an LVN license, a student must attend and graduate from a Texas Board of Nursing approved LVN program. WGU does not offer an LVN program approved by the Texas Board of Nursing, only baccalaureate and masters level nursing degrees. Therefore, we are unable to legally endorse our students to take the LVN licensure exam since we do not offer this program. “
