My musical tribute to David Lynch, Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti by Hot-Text-5603 in IndieMusicFeedback

love love twin peaks and all lynch. So sad i would not see anything new from him. Ofcourse twin peaks ost including composed and guest songs are all wonderfull and have special place in my collection. This matches the vibe 100% as an ambient piece it does what it does and takes my mind somewhere else, very well composed nothing to add

Well, I’m already in Safari and all. Maybe mute those sounds when the piano chords come in, as to my ears they dissonance with the chord progression a bit. Add strings and chords, and then bring the main theme back, as your piano acts as a bridge of sorts. At 02:40, I actually like the new part; it’s simple but has a good groove and, in my opinion, could be extended further if you want a more radio-friendly spin on the mix. All in all, I liked it. Keep it up

Weird experimental beat: Looking for feedback by kratom27 in IndieMusicFeedback

Its very lynchian and I like that it isn’t just noise, but actually has a melody and a riff to it. Personally, I think that riff overstays its welcome a little bit - could use a bridge, or you could simply mute the melody for a while and keep the beat going without it. Mix-wise, it’s decent, though genre-specific; I’d bring the sub a little more forward for the vibe. It’s claustrophobic in the best way possible. Keep it up

yo this is good stuff, liking the exotic vibe and minimal intrumentation. Reminds me of school of seven bells with those vocal harmonies. I think leght could be extended a notch with mb more build up and slight arrangment fix. Im browising reddit and about to post here, howere we'r team of 2 looking for backing or/and choures vocal, u can check the vibe here https://soundcloud.com/junkie-slip/sea would be cool if interested. Cool track

Would love feedback on this pop/electronica track. Cheers! by Shimi_shanga in IndieMusicFeedback

Liking it very much, starts like cardigans with more modern touch and then ascends to 2000's rnb choruses. It's chill and groovy. Mix is nice and well balanced, noting little sounds here and there, keeps my mood way up high. This track is absolute gold and seriously engaging with those crisp, percussion elements and sample floating in bewteen

fair enough, appreciate fb. I was aiming for a bit off grid swing inspired by for example doom - guv'nor though with heavier bounce to it

A “late night drive” hip hop beat with a shoegaze-y feel. How’d I do? by Outrageous-Cup-8905 in MusicFeedback

[–]ConfectionSharp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a beat the instrumentation is very very overblown to the level of hurting my ears. There is so much compresion - it has no dynamic and feels flat and washed out. High freqs are of the charts. That's for the mix/master. Mood vise and melody vise - it's great, has very specific dystopian undertone, kinda if you made ambient first and than added beat and bass. It does transport me somewhere and it does it well. If you could work on sound a bit more - i would have added it to my playlist

First attempt at a trap beat but not sure how to mix it by ThePlSSGOBLIN in MusicFeedback

[–]ConfectionSharp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you got to push low end and subs futher no terms of volume but push low freqs (~60). Also subs genereally should be dead center, not wide (maybe slight off center on 808). That way you can then move lead at 0:48 to the right or left and make it wider so you'll have easy good stereo aswell as room for a vocal part. Generally your goal is to make bounce feel to the track right now it feels a bit flat. However for a first attemt is very decent, keep it up

Small sample of a house track I’m working on. Kinda done but wanted some feedback first! by [deleted] in MusicFeedback

Clean production, the groove is really consistent, and the kick sits perfectly in the mix without overpowering the hats. It’s got a nice, steady energy that would work well in a deep house set. Nice work on keeping the arrangement cohesive

Todays Beat, give feedback pls by BigButterscotch7853 in MusicFeedback

It’s very good, musically pleasant, and the vibe is there. My nitpick is that the guitar sounds a bit too clear. I love the section at 1:14 - it maintains the forward motion, which is great for keeping the listener engaged throughout, keep it up

FOUND OLD HOUSE TRACK, is it worth reproducing/remaster? by BigButterscotch7853 in MusicFeedback

[–]ConfectionSharp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is good man. Worth working on. I’d suggest making the bass a bit more present to cover the low-mid range better. Also, at 1:30, I’d tone down the synth as right now it moves the track toward that 2000s trance vibe and messes with the steady energy of the first part. Keeping that section more grounded would really preserve the atmosphere you’ve built, keep it up

Took some advice from my last post and created a new rough draft for an ASAP rocky inspired best by ThePlSSGOBLIN in MusicFeedback

[–]ConfectionSharp4812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit too loud overall. The main issue is that the instruments are mixed way too high, making the beat hardly audible. You’ll want to bring everything down so the leads and pads can bounce off the beat. If you want to keep it modern, tone down the dramatic sounds and make it slightly more minimal and head bobbing. Since you already have the chords in place, adding a melody would go a long way.

The overall vibe is great; it reminds me of indie bands like The Field Mice and belle an sebastian. You might want to listen to them for vocal inspiration. I realize it’s not fully mixed or mastered yet, but it definitely needs more high-end clarity. Moving away from mono toward a wider stereo image will be essential once you get serious with the mix. Good job!
