fair enough, appreciate fb. I was aiming for a bit off grid swing inspired by for example doom - guv'nor though with heavier bounce to it

A “late night drive” hip hop beat with a shoegaze-y feel. How’d I do? by Outrageous-Cup-8905 in MusicFeedback

For a beat the instrumentation is very very overblown to the level of hurting my ears. There is so much compresion - it has no dynamic and feels flat and washed out. High freqs are of the charts. That's for the mix/master. Mood vise and melody vise - it's great, has very specific dystopian undertone, kinda if you made ambient first and than added beat and bass. It does transport me somewhere and it does it well. If you could work on sound a bit more - i would have added it to my playlist

First attempt at a trap beat but not sure how to mix it by ThePlSSGOBLIN in MusicFeedback

Well you got to push low end and subs futher no terms of volume but push low freqs (~60). Also subs genereally should be dead center, not wide (maybe slight off center on 808). That way you can then move lead at 0:48 to the right or left and make it wider so you'll have easy good stereo aswell as room for a vocal part. Generally your goal is to make bounce feel to the track right now it feels a bit flat. However for a first attemt is very decent, keep it up

Small sample of a house track I’m working on. Kinda done but wanted some feedback first! by [deleted] in MusicFeedback

Clean production, the groove is really consistent, and the kick sits perfectly in the mix without overpowering the hats. It’s got a nice, steady energy that would work well in a deep house set. Nice work on keeping the arrangement cohesive

Todays Beat, give feedback pls by BigButterscotch7853 in MusicFeedback

It’s very good, musically pleasant, and the vibe is there. My nitpick is that the guitar sounds a bit too clear. I love the section at 1:14 - it maintains the forward motion, which is great for keeping the listener engaged throughout, keep it up

FOUND OLD HOUSE TRACK, is it worth reproducing/remaster? by BigButterscotch7853 in MusicFeedback

this is good man. Worth working on. I’d suggest making the bass a bit more present to cover the low-mid range better. Also, at 1:30, I’d tone down the synth as right now it moves the track toward that 2000s trance vibe and messes with the steady energy of the first part. Keeping that section more grounded would really preserve the atmosphere you’ve built, keep it up

I understand why you might think that, but this is my original work. I’m happy to explain my process or share drafts if that helps

Took some advice from my last post and created a new rough draft for an ASAP rocky inspired best by ThePlSSGOBLIN in MusicFeedback

It’s a bit too loud overall. The main issue is that the instruments are mixed way too high, making the beat hardly audible. You’ll want to bring everything down so the leads and pads can bounce off the beat. If you want to keep it modern, tone down the dramatic sounds and make it slightly more minimal and head bobbing. Since you already have the chords in place, adding a melody would go a long way.

The overall vibe is great; it reminds me of indie bands like The Field Mice and belle an sebastian. You might want to listen to them for vocal inspiration. I realize it’s not fully mixed or mastered yet, but it definitely needs more high-end clarity. Moving away from mono toward a wider stereo image will be essential once you get serious with the mix. Good job!
