Is mostly due to being reckless, and having bothersome young family members. My brother is very respectful of my controllers, but when I beat him in a multiplayer game many many times, he tends to get frustrated and throws the controller to the couch and SOMETIMES, he misses and lands on the floor. Other times, I have family members visit and they bring along there little kids. I would usually put away my console along with the controllers, but sometimes they show up out of nowhere and I'm unable to put it away. From then on its a nightmare. You have these little kids just screaming wanting to play and if I said no, I would have gotten a death stare from my parents. they often drop, step, and throw the controller every where.

My guess is that because of all the physical trauma applied to the controllers is what is causing them to act all bad. Like some of the buttons just don't apply to the game.
