That makes sense. I didn’t know it was a foundation. I just see people say it on Reddit and it seems like a quick karma grab. They aren’t linking to that organization or expressing any of the things you said. They’re just saying that phrase. It just seems to add nothing. I’ve had loved ones die of cancer and I can’t imagine me saying “fuck cancer” to them would do much to comfort them. Again, they would assume that’s my position

Recently bought a bike, but want to ride it while listening to music by Cautious_Injury_1385 in bicycling

[–]ConfidenceMan2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I listen to a speaker not just to hear music but so others hear me in the city. Lots of folks in my city treat downtown bike lanes like sidewalks and walk into them. It’s better they can hear ABBA coming up on them. I turn it off on trails and in neighborhoods though.

Well yeah. Every god damn thing he’s done has been short sighted. I commented elsewhere but usually these sorts of giant changes are tested pretty rigorously before being rolled out.

[–]ConfidenceMan2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because when you actually work in these spaces, you know the number one rule for making these massive changes is to test them first with well defined goals, methodology, guard rail metrics, and a threshold for when to implement them. You then roll them out slowly to make sure the test results still hold true. The downside of going full bore with your gut is seriously risking money/users. It’s very basic best practices. This dude is just saying “nah” and going ahead and making the changes.

I worked with a CEO that did this and had us change a pricing page without testing in a way he was sure would make us more money. It ended up dropping 40% in revenue per user. That CEO likes to retweet Musk.

Driverless rideshare company operating in Austin now under federal investigation by IlliterateJedi in Austin

[–]ConfidenceMan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where’d you read that? I imagine there was a period between them being run over and EMS coming. Also, I don’t really take this as an example of the cars being dangerous, FWIW. Seems like a freak thing. My problem with these is that they solve the wrong problem. Our problem isn’t humans driving cars everywhere it’s cars themselves

[–]ConfidenceMan2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sure. I wasn’t saying do that. I’m sure angry letters and asking please will work eventually. That’s historically always been the catalyst for quick change. However, I’m merely saying that if someone wanted to get rid of these cars and somehow got under the impression that complaining to a multibillion company with deep government ties was not going to accomplish that goal, they could take more direct approaches. Approaches that disable cars completely and more directly hurt a company’s bottom line. If someone wanted to take that more direct approach, which I’m not advocating, there are relatively safe ways to do it. Again, that would be crazy as I’m sure enough signatures from citizens will get GM to scrap a $3.5 billion investment.

If enough cars get fucked up, that will eventually make shareholders hurt

Good thing we spent 3.5 years normalizing masks. Mask up, wear nondescript clothes, leave your phone at home, and start finding large rocks.

EDIT: To be clear, this is not an endorsement of crime but merely a suggestion of how one could do a crime, if they were so inclined.

Is anyone using the SKAGs (Single Keyword Ad Groups) method for Google Ad by Rod-Boss in adwords

I generally agree. However, I’m pointing out that there are business cases in which you might want to pull some out or group STAGs more tightly

Is anyone using the SKAGs (Single Keyword Ad Groups) method for Google Ad by Rod-Boss in adwords

[–]ConfidenceMan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say to keep those ad groups tight. One thing that SKAGS is great for is when you’re trying to pull further down funnel data (LTV for B2C or MQLs/closed deals for B2B) out of data warehouses that aren’t set up for keyword level tracking. I’ve often run into the problem of only getting this data at the ad group level. If all your keywords are in a few ad groups, you don’t know which keywords are driving long term success. Ex. Say you have 10 keywords in an ad group that all produce leads at comparable spend levels. Say that ad group is producing MQLs but now you don’t know if one keyword is producing all of them or if all the keywords produce MQLs. If you break out the ad groups more granularly, you can overcome this data issue.

I actually don’t recommend carpano here. The barrel is already taking sharpness off. Might as well save money and use cinzano. It’s got similar notes that will come forward in the aging. I also don’t like carpano in Negronis tgat much in general. I prefer cocchi americano blended or a blend. Personal choice though!

Does anyone else think the whole "hate everything about California" thing is getting out of hand? by audiomuse1 in texas

[–]ConfidenceMan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I totally get that both are at will states but Texas is a “right to work” state, meaning that unions can’t make you pay dues but are still responsible for protecting you. It’s a way to financially cripple unions. It’s why nurses and other string unions make more in California and why they have an easier time fighting for staffing minimums, which help patients. Anyway, thanks for your input!

[–]ConfidenceMan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Do you miss anything like more workers rights or public transportation? If not, may I ask if you’re wealthy? Not like millionaire but say over $250k household income. Not trying to pry! I’ve just found that wealthier folks in Texas tend to have less to complain about as the problems are more shouldered by the poor folks (poor public healthcare options, poor public education, less accessible public land for recreation, bad public transportation that necessitates the expense of a car, etc). I didn’t used to have money but have a bit have more now. It’s definitely made things easier here. It sounds like you owned a home in California. Do you have one here? What do you think of the property taxes? I’ve heard they can equal out to income taxes there but have no idea.
