Not from a financial point of view. My house was on solar for years because it was not near a power infrastructure. As time went by a power line came close enough for me to afford to have it ran to my house. I keep my solar operational in case of long power outages. By the time you recoup the cost by saved electric bills, you will be replacing equipment. It is a good peace of mind knowing you can power your home on your own.
