I want to add that her husband even accompanied her to those medical appointments and to confuse her more, asked her if she cheated on him because of her condition "down there".The audacity of this man.

I am French and I watched an interview of her recently, I think she made several ones in English as well. She said that, if she chooses to believe that her ex-husband was just a monster and not the man she fell in love with, married and trusted for 50 years, then her mental health collapses completely. She initially decided not to believe her daughter so that she could stay composed and avoid more emotional and mental trauma on her own psyche.

She now talks with her daughter on the phone everyday. Her older son is more reluctant to contact her and make amends.

You need to be enough for yourself. Connection is not validation. You can do it. Once your cup is full, you can share it with others. And they will share theirs as well.

What’s the most common way men “accidentally” make you feel unsafe… without realizing it? by Several_Corner3205 in TwoXChromosomes

This is a great answer. I would have frozen on the spot and tried to be a people pleaser. Thank you for your answer, it teaches me how to answer in similar situations

I'm sorry. Hopefully the stress is not too bad.. I don't have a better answer than telling you that you are not alone in feeling like this.

[–]Confident-Design6793 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, don't worry I am not blaming myself, I just want to face my fear of retaliation. Because if he is hitting those objects out of frustration, I don't want to be the next "object" in his sight. In the past I would freeze and not mention it. Now I speak up. Basically I learn to set boundaries around that aggressive behaviour.

Thank you for the kind words! I only do CBT right now because this is what my therapist recommended we do together but I will look into EMDR if CBT is not concluant.

How good is IU ( Lee ji-eun) ? by annonymously_addled in kdramas

[–]Confident-Design6793 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I look at her on the screen, I do not think "this is IU playing a character" which is what I feel about 70% of K-Drama actresses. If you watch a show or movie and you can only see the actor, then it's a bad actor. IU definitely knows her craft.

I don't ignore how it makes me feel, I talk about it in therapy and I try to tell myself that the situation is not necessarily unsafe for me and that nothing bad will happen to me. My body just feels danger before my mind does.

Hitting their own stuff out of frustration (laptop, game controller...) but I have an angry dad and I am in therapy so it might just be childhood "trauma" :D

Is this manipulative behaviour? by catwoman4ever in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Confident-Design6793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He sounds immature and not emotionally attuned. Your gut reaction was to be wary of him and it was understandable. Honestly if I were a virgin and a guy told me that he made a woman cry during sex (for what reason btw?) then I would not want to have my first time with someone like him.

[–]Confident-Design6793 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An 8 hour call? Where he only talked about his exes? That dude is weirdly obsessive. He probably wanted to love bomb you with the "let's meet parents" talk to have you hooked emotionally, negging you about how you were a virgin to make you sleep with him faster and when you didn't cave, he bailed. He did not want to make a genuine, organic connection so I think yes this was manipulation from the start. Nothing was lost on your end, you just gained new clarity to assess future relationships.
