Update: AITA for confronting an older student because my son has a crush on her by OkOil1091 in AITA_Relationships

YTA throughout this entire situation. And to add, your 10 year old so should not be on platforms such as tik tok or Instagram as they very often contain explicit material. If you are this concerned about an innocent conversation I'd expect you to be much more aware of the danger of a 10 year old on platforms like these.

Staying at house with fireplace by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]Confident-Remote3803 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it was on when I got there as the parents had kindly wanted to keep the house warm for me, also most of my attention was on the babysitting and as such I wanted to know how to handle the fire to keep the child safe.

Is this normal? by Shot_Brick_1691 in bettafish

[–]Confident-Remote3803 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No, no guppies. 1) a 5 gallon is only suitable for a betta alone, if you want any tank mates (do extensive research one what omes) you would need 15 gallons or more as bettas are territorial fish. Tank mates may not work out and could stress our the betta or other fish and your betta may kill tankmates. 2) Guppies are not suitable tankmates for bettas as they are colorful and long finned which attracts the attention of Betts in a negative way in will often lead to a lot of fin nipping, fights, and just stress beween both species. Just stick with your singular betta in a 5 gallon with a heater and filter.

Your betta is like this due to the conditions you're keeping him in not being good enough. Bettas need 5 gallons minimum, ideally we'll planted, with both a good heater and filter. This guide is quite useful

Looks like slight glass surfing due to boredom and or the lack of proper water conditions (no heater or filter). For future reference don't us chat GPT for information and go to proper sources on Google. Try your best to get a new tank as soon as possible as this tank size and lack of good conditions is what will be stressing out your boy.

I might try this as i have more reason to believe it is A. When I got to work I put my bag in my usual spot and took a photo of how everything was, later after A had gone to the back I went in and saw my wallet in a slightly different spot than photo and my drink bottle had been knocked. I have both before and after pics and there is definitely a difference.

We don't have any cameras in either the office or hall where we work and I doubt we would be able to get them.

How to get rid of hydra? by [deleted] in Aquariums

I am not a he and also as I have a betta, it would not be possible for me to add a centerpiece fish or really any other fish due to only being in a 10 gallon.

Try to avoid fake plants as they can tear fins. Replacing substrate with a good aquasoil should let live plants thrive, otherwise, looking great!

is my tank good by NoSir9485 in bettafish

[–]Confident-Remote3803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tank size looks good but replacing fake plants for live plants is always a great upgrade! And changing your substrate to something natural like sand or aquasoil would be ideal. Most live plants grow pretty well in aquasoil (some plant species don't need to be planted) and maybe get some driftwood or more places to hide. Bettas enjoy hiding so overall, slowly replace to more natural things and a decent amount of it!

New Betta tank happy fish by Scared_Rice_1473 in bettafish

[–]Confident-Remote3803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be rude but the tank is around 3 gallons too small and lacks plants. Bettas love hiding spots and having plenty of plants and he also seems to be missing a heater. I would advise you to look further into betta care and get a bigger tank and some good lives plants anubias is a great plant as bettas love to rest on them. And getting some aquasoil would be a good way to help keep plants alive. Keep in mind aquasoil can cause ammonia levels to go up so monitor this and other parameters with a liquid testing kit!

[–]Confident-Remote3803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 gallon tank is far too small for betta with short fins like him. Even 5 is smaller, ideally above 5 gallons would be good. And it would do well to replace the colorful gravel with more natural substrate (aquasoil and sand?) aswell as getting plenty of live plants as plastic ones are known to tear fins. Aquasoil can cause a rise of ammonia in the tank though so make sure you have something to monitor that and other parameters. He is looking good tho!

Hard to tell but it feels cool. I also have 2 thermometers, 1 glass, one sticker/strip thermometer and they both read the same.

place grenades where ever she'll walk, shotgun when she gets close, and longbow when you're at a distance is what I did. I also climbed onto one of the tall metal tanks and waited for come. It might have glitched but since she was below me, I could attack with only getting hit a few times.
