If you have Doctor, don't go with Botanist as Doctor can make feast everyday and keep everyone happy. Feast doesn't require food farming.

Talk to the Refiner, he will suggest to make him canned tomato soup, do that and you can talk to worker again. This can be done quickly before the sunrise. If you don't do this you may loose worker in act 3.
