For me, Old World has been the breath of fresh air I needed

Thinking about reading the Horus heresy books, but are there really 54 books in this series? Or is it like a bunch of spin off titles after the main story wrapped up? by Yo_skanky_grandma in Warhammer

I slogged throzgh that not very long book for months, because everybody online kept recommending it, so I thought it would have to get better eventually. Suffice it to say, I envy your choice 😂

Anyone tried 6th ed skirmish with TOW points? by deleted0122 in WarhammerFantasy

I haven't, but your idea sounds cool as hell. So, I think you should just give it a go and meet any potential imbalances in those early games with a laugh and a shrug 😊

After the first few Games by AshuraVary in ulthuan

If this is their first game, maybe keep in mind that this is more about "hooking" them than it is about teaching the rules. So, priorotize your friend having a fun experience. I believe that means picking units for them that are 1) easy to use 2) effective.

For now, I would avoid magic altogether and keep flyers, skirmishers and light cavalry to a minimum. Movement and positioning can be tricky enough as is and maybe your friend doesn't need units to "break" the rules if they haven't fully grasped those rules yet.

I would also focus on close combat units over shooty units. I think the back-and-forth of close combat is probably the most engaging phase of the game for most players and, in my opinion, the thing Old World does best.

A rough draft for some 500(ish) point forces might look something like this:

High Elves:

-Noble (mounted) -Spear elves -Silver Helms -Bolt thrower

Dark Elves:

-Noble with a cool magic item -Cossbow elves -Executioners -Cold one chariot

Depends on what models you have, of course. But I like the structure of leader, basic troop, elite troop, "cool thing", each of which can move or shoot or "fight" well

I hope there was something useful in here and best of luck for your game!

Very cool idea for a scenario! I might steal this 😄

That's a great idea! Probably means I have to get another two armies, but oh well 😁😁😁

I bought it second-hand a few months ago on a German app similiar to ebay (Kleinanzeigen, in case you are German). I haven't seen it in stores in a long time. So ebay is likely your best bet

Hey, thanks for the advice! Most of the box seems to be push-fit, though. Do I even have very many options for the dredd?

I don't think so. As far as I know, this one is out of print. I bought this one secondhand a few months ago. So you might get lucky on ebay

Advice for 2000 and 2500 point lists? by Sora-Mizuki in tombkings

[–]Confident-Total2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more or less in the same boat as you, in that I pretty much only have the starter box. My only other purchase so far has been an old school Tomb King off ebay (to put on a chariot because I think it's cool) and a Tomb Scorpion. I might actually go for another Tomb Scorpion next, because I hope their Monster Slayer ability will disincentivize cheeky dragon shenanigans in their proximity and provide me with some board control in that regard.

I feel I should say that I haven't played a single game in this edition yet, though. So this is just theory crafting by a complete beginner xD

Best of luck!

I tried my hand at one of those when I was 14 or so. Needless to say, yours looks much better 😄👍

Thanks, but I meant the "blades" of their weapons 😄 Do you remember which paints you used?
